I went to My Sons Bank to deposit some Cash into His checking account and They told Me that unless I had a account there or was on My Sons account that I could not deposit cash,I could write a check or use My Debit Card but not Cash.
I never heard of such a thing in My life.
My other Sons have accounts at different Banks and Inhave never had a problem like this.
Has Anyone else had this happen to Them?

If you did not have his account number, they likely did not want to give a deposit slit with that number. If you were a crook, you could use that number. If you had his account number, I don't know.

Never heard of this. The only thing I ever get is they ask for my ID if I'm depositing cash to any account.

I had His account number and routing number and showed Them My i.d. And still They would not accept the cash for deposit.
Later that day I met My Son at the Bank and gave Him the cash and believe it or not They would not accept the cash unless He produced His ATM Card to make the deposit even though it's His account.(go figure). Needless to say He's looking for another Bank.
It was Chase Bank,I here They can be a real pain to deal with.
And I dont look that shifty anymore.
I have never had this problem at any other Bank.

My bank charges people who don't have an account to cash my checks. Insane. The point of a checking account is that the bank pays "upon demand" a negotiable instrument. I pay the bank to provide the service, but now they charge others, too. Greedy scum.

I've gone into chase banks trying to split a $100 bill into some $20s they will not do it unless I have a account ???

Many tellers have been told of all the penalties they will suffer if they run afoul of FDIC, SEC, SSA or YMCA regulations. SO the policy has become "When in doubt, say no!" America has become a hard place to make a honest living!

One of the big banks tried to charge me $10 or $15 to cash one of their customer's checks. I got it cashed or deposited in my bank, I forget which. I would not have an account at a bank that had that policy nor would I knowing accept a check drawn on such a bank.

One of my banks locally will not give you cash if you try to cash a check. You must first deposit the check, then make a cash withdrawal from your account. Seems like double work to me, but that's what I have to do.

I believe that if you deposit more than $2000 (maybe $3000, not sure) in currency at one time, your name goes on "The List." I guess you are then marked as being a potential money launderer or dope dealer. It used to be $10K, but it is now much lower.

I would appreciate that level of account security . . .

Security is one thing but Chase is the only Bank I ever saw that would not let Me put Cash into one of My Kid's accounts.
All the others have no problem with it.
It doesnt matter because He's changing Banks because of fthe hassle He had with them.
