So I picked up a SL 40 to 9conversion barrel a little while back and have been shooting it here or there for a few months. I do not shoot it often and maybe have 500 to 600 rounds through it total. I had it out to clean the other day and noticed the feed ramp has some sort of impact mark on the leading edge that has caused a burr to rise right on the edge of the feed ramp. This has not appeared to have had an effect the function of the gun but I am concerned about future wear. Along with the impact mark I took a look at the rest of the barrel and found what looked like gouged in the rifling about 1/4" from the chamber. I'm wondering if anyone has had or seen similar issues with these barrels. I purchased the SL because they are supposed to be machined to properly convert between the two calibers unlike buying a plain Smith 9mm barrel.
For those that will ask I shoot a mix of Speer lawman 147gr TMJ, Federal American eagle 147gr FMJ, and Blazer aluminium 147gr fmj. Also, I have already emailed SL about the issue a d am waiting to hear back about a replacement or repair, although their return and exchange policy makes me doubt that I will receive either.
Photos below, and I apologize for the quality of some. This phone only does so well in certain lighting.
