I have a M&P15 sport II and looking to change handguard. I picked up a factory original 13” modular hand rail from Numrich (not the quad one) that comes on the M&P15T, see attachment. My question is what barrel nut does this handguard use? It didn’t come with one and I am not able to track down any information on which one is used. Is it the one in other attachment? Thanks for the help.

I'm not positive, but the handguard in your photo looks like a midwest industries handguard. Is there any 'MI' on the handguard anywhere? The barrel nut you show is for a standard mil-spec handguard.

Thanks for the help. I spoke with S&W this morning and they were able to locate the barrel nut for this handguard and I purchased it. Thanks.

Never mind, they called back and said this barrel nut is a factory install only and they won’t ship it to me. I am returning the handguard to Numrich and picking up something else. Great customer service S&W......

Damn, you sure gave up quick. Bet I could have located one in less than 30 minutes. Wasn't intended to be ugly. Just hate seeing you not have what you want.

So my local gun store was able to determine that the barrel nut I needed was a DMPS free floating barrel nut. Hope this helps.
