Barrel Threading

So when I bought my 15-22 I didn't buy the version that came with the threaded barrel. Now I really would like to put a Spike's ET-1 threaded fake can on it. I know the pitch is 1/2x28 but my main question is this:

1) When threading the barrel what depth should the thread stop at or how deep should I go when threading?

2) How do you take the barrel off?

3) If I decide to eventually take the fake can off can I replace it with say a Surefire Muzzle Brake?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I do have to say this forum has personally helped me tremendously with fully understanding the technicial aspects of my 15-22. We sure do have some very knowledgeable members and I'm glad to be a part of it.

1) The standard length of threads is .625 inch.
2) Use a barrel nut wrench and vise jaws, or do it the hard way.
3) You can use any muzzle device with 1/2-28 threads.

A 1/2-28 UNEF Class 2A thread.
Allowance .0011
Major Diameter .4989 to .4924
Pitch Diameter .4757 to .4720
UNR Minor Diam (Ref) .4563
With your compound rest set at 29 degrees, here is the formula for infeed.

.708/Number of threads for UN
