Gents, does anyone have experience with Battery Powered Lawn mowers? I have a normal yard, pretty flat 1/3rd acre. Thanks Greg

Yes, both push and riding. For push, The EGO are about the best I've found.

For the past 4 years, I have been using a Ryobi 38" riding mower to tackle just shy of 1.5 acres. Been very happy with this unit. However the EGO zero turn radius mowers have piqued by interest and I'm pretty sure I'll upgrade.

They aren't cheap but not having to deal with winterizing, summerizing, fuel, oil, etc, has been well worth it. The old lady even pitches in far more with EV mowers, trimmers, blowers, etc. She wouldn't touch my gas operated versions...

Bought my sister an EGO self propelled push mower and she couldn't be happier. Prior was a nice Honda which had started smoking more over the years.

I got this one last year and I love it. No more gas to mess with, no cord either, and its quiet. I get about 45 minutes per charge, less if the grass is high. Then I pop out the battery, put it on the charger, drink a beer, and maybe do the back yard.

Recently picked up a Lowe's Kobalt push mower because it uses the same battery as my weedeater, pole saw, etc. I use it to mow close to the house because my 40 year old Kubota G6200 isn't very nimble. I have only used it twice so far, but am happy with it.

Son got a whole shed of EGO stuff. Lawn mower and snow thrower were the biggies. Hasn't complained about them.

I have no experience with a battery powered mower, but I sure like the idea of 'quiet!' Sometimes I want to strangle the neighbors' lawn service guys with their loud backpack blowers.

I guess whether or not it will suit your job depends on the considerations of:
- load - (how high and thick the grass)
- the run time you need
- how much is the replacement battery when the time comes to replace it
- are they self propelled, or do you push?

Rusty they will clear ground better than a $1 million dollars of heavy equipment and chemicals. I would have an army of them but the coyotes kill them as quick as we put them in the wild places they need to clear. Plus, I don’t want to be called a “goat-roper” by the locals!

Plus, they are cuter than some old Briggs & Stratton.
