BBQ Guns

John,

There are no marks on the holster on Sheriff Quillie Clayton Gaddis' .38 Super. No marks on the plain black snap either. It looks a little like the Myres #967 but with a strap and an open toe. However the basketweave on the Myres is diagonal and the one on this holster is vertical so I believe that it may be a H. Heiser.

The 1911 shipped Nov. 14, 1936 to Q. C. Gaddis at Titus County Texas with the ivory grips. (We still have the original box with the tiny IVORY label on the box.) I suspect that Sheriff Gaddis carried it in that holster since he got it.

I'll welcome your thoughts.

Bob

Fun to see this thread come around again. Here is a scratched up K-22 Combat Masterpiece that would feel comfortable at most BBQ's that I attend...

I know that I've shown it before, but it seems to fit nicely in this thread as well.

Thanks for letting me share,

Wow! These are some really nice BBQ guns. Sadly, the closest thing I have to a BBQ gun is my Colt series 70 1911.

Guess I need to fix that....with a proper shiny S&W revolver.

Lawandorder: the holster shown with my W&K does not have a maker's mark It is marked "38-44" on the back but it is not a typical stampling... almost as it it were finely engraved. It know little else as the holster was a surprise gift from another forum member who sent it to me when I first posted a photo of the gun a while back. Beautiful hoster and it loves the gun. I love em both.

My Pseudo-Paterson, started life as a '49 Pocket, suffered a fire that melted off its brass grip. I just couldn't let it get thown away, grips real ivory made from SAA grips I had made in Africa 1951 when I was working there ----
