Just another day same as any other.
Dont buy in to the Friday13th/full moon hype.
Crazy people are going to do crazy things regardless of if it is the 13th or 27th or full moon or 1/2 moon etc....
Hope everyone has a safe and happy 13th

Yup there is a 13th in every month. Right after 12th and before the 14th every single month.
The ones that happen to be on a Friday are no different than the ones that are on a Tuesday or Sunday. Just another day the sun will rise and set same as ever.
But some folks see it differently.

You must have missed the Mercury in Retrograde thread.
Like Dude, we got all this cosmic karma coming down on us today. Mercury is weirding out, full moon, its Friday the 13th and now I hear its a Honey Moon too. Its like the stars are lining up to throw all kinds of crazy at us.
Should be an interesting night.

Then again, maybe I'll just watch TV and eat cheetos.

You might not consider Friday the Thirteenth just another day if you were one of the Knights Templar, or the thirteenth guest at a famous dinner party!

I had a relative that arrested Ed Gein. He told me he took him to madison wisconsin for a lie detector test. The guy that was going to do the test told him to bring him back tomorrow, didnt have the time before he got off duty. Specks opted to spend the night in his cell with him rather than drive home, and return in the morning with him. They gave specks a cell, actualy a row of empty cells. Specks said he finaly faked he was asleep, gein got up, bent over him while specks played possum. Gein tried the cell door, it swung open and he went to the end of the hall but that door was locked. Specks was peeking aroiund the corner watching, hit his cot and played possum again. He made like he was wakening up and offered ed a cigaret and they talked. Gein told him he couldnt control himself in the full moon. He gave specks a list I think, of 48 graves he had robbed. They dug up two at random and they were empty!

Some of the story posted is slightly different than specks (Leon) murty told me first hand. Murty and his wife helen ( a cousin) were sheriff and under sheriff of waushara county for a number of years. Specks decided to not run anymore and a inexperienced fellow by the name of shly ran and made sheriff. The murder of Mrs Worden happened soon after. Shly called specks for help and it was specks who cracked the case. The article said gein was buying anti freeze but specks told me it was kerosene. Specks said gein was the only one around without electricity and still used kerosine lights. He went out to the farm along with deputy dan chase and found the mess. The last time I seen specks about in 1979 we spent the afternoon together. Sure wish I had a tape recorder, he died not long after. There was animosity between him and the new sheriff as he made a agreement with specks to sit on the story and then he went and sold rights to the story behide specks back to life magazine and put himself in the case like he cracked it and not specks. There is a lot more to it but thats enough.

In the extended family there are 2 Generations of LEO's, 3 firefighters (all the same generation), and 3 (and soon to be 4) generations of nurses. Every one of these professionals agree that full moons cause 10 to 15 percent more business. If for no other reason, more light to get into trouble by! There is talk of an increase in adolescent trouble making (but we haven't seen any numbers) on warm weather Friday 13ths and (again no numbers) but the trouble seems to be more pranks go to far, and in better neighborhoods. Just to be safe, I'll get Dottie (my Mossberg 590SP) out of the gun cabinet and have her close by, shucks, you never know...

I spent 20 years in HR doing interviewing and such. The receptionist would always keep track of the full moons and that is when the real loonies would come in.

Aside from the possibility that the light of a full moon makes it easier to see at night to commit our crimes or that people who believe that things such as Friday the 13th or a full moon has some special significance choosing (even unconsciously) to commit their mayhem - neither has any effect so strong as the impact it has on our ability to remember things that seem unusual on those days.
If you run statistical analysis of hard data - and not count on anecdotal evidence - you will not find any significant correlation.

So for example in the case of the receptionist keeping track on days with full moon - did she also keep track every other day and compare?

Aside from the relatively tiny amount of reflected sun light (compared to full sun during the day) the only influence the moon has in gravitational - and guess what - the entire Moon is orbiting the Earth every single day whether you can see it or not - just watch the tides - and there is no evidence that the minuscule effect of the moon's gravity on your body or brain is in any way significant or enough to alter behavior.

Was married the second time on Friday the 13th. That was a mistake!! Have seen some other strange things on the 13th and under the full moon. Never do anything different because of that. Tonight I'll sleep with my tin foil hat!

I don't have enough smarts to figure out why/why not the loonies come out on a full moon especially not about gravitational pull. I just know they do. Simply ask any big city policeman, ER nurse, bartender, or EMS person.

As far as anecdotal vs. plus/minus one standard deviation of the mean, I'll go with anecdotal. No one keeps records of folks walking around naked in a Batman cape or playing kickball on an Interstate or calling the police helicopter unit and asking them to stop pouring propane down their chimney, etc.

As far as Friday, the 13th goes, I'm not superstitions but I will avoid walking under a black cat.

Order of the Day:
1. load with silver bullets that have been rubbed with garlic.
2. wear a silver cross
3. carry a hand grenade with the pin out. ( if #1 and #2 fails the werewolf will have a really bad stomach ache)

*** I will not change into a fresh depend diaper tonight in case #1, #2, and #3 fails, the werewolf is going earn his Jimmy meal

Well,
Have hade a REALLY bad day. Won't go into all the details. It went down hill after the dog ate the door.
Picked up wife at work and was bemoaning my day and she reminded me it was Friday the 13, full moon ,etc.

Normally don't give it a thought, but I'm wondering..,,
