BEAR ATTACK THREAD

Bears are fast. Faster than a human. This was a young bear looking to play and it found some nice chew toys.

I bought both of these for bear protection

North GA has a large population of black bears. We saw a mom and five cubs near our home on Black Rock Mountain a few years ago.

I'm guessing that an old mama bear decided that this yearling is old enough to fend for itself. There will be missing dogs/pets soon if the conservation dept. there doesn't kill it first, the primary danger is to children playing outside, walking to/from school or waiting on the bus............ once a bear sees humans as a food source, they will always think that way....heck it is springtime, you'd think there would be abundant food sources in the woods.

I lived in Western Mass. for 20 years and when we left in the early eighties there were many bear sightings and officials urged everyone to take in their bird feeders when the bears came out of hibernation in the spring. It was not unusual to see them in the Northampton area. There were way to many for safety sake.
A friend on mine had his car run into a half mile from my house by a black bear crossing the highway. He was freaked out to no end.

Not a bear attack. That was just the local state employed personal trainer providing some motivation to the runners to "pick up the pace".

If you are going to run, might as well run like your life depends on it.

Running/jogging in a game preserve...don't they say that triggers their instincts? Brilliant (sarcasm).

Bear Crisis Developing?

The obvious answer is to disarm all potential victims by passing more draconian gun laws for possession within five, no, make that twenty-five miles of a bear.

To make it easier for bear victims to get help. we need a separate 911 call system:
If you are being menaced by a bear, give it your youngest child so the rest of your family may flee.
If you are being attacked by a bear, please press 1.
If you are being torn to pieces by a bear, please stay on the line and the next available operator will assist you.

The enhanced 911 call system replaces firearms and is far more humane.

Nothing more than a .22 pistol is ever needed, especially when there are two of you together. You kneecap the person with you with the .22. You can then leave the vicinity at a more casual pace. No need in creating extra stress on your body. :D :D :D

Not being a big fan of bears, (or running, for that matter), I would employ my vast knowledge of anatomy (in particularly, gastro-intestinal function) to deploy a noxious cloud to enable my escape. Usually by evaporation (me, not the cloud).
