Beautiful 27 thread

Howdy turnerriver,
Is the lower gun a 27-2? The open ejector rod is like none I've ever seen, but there is lots I've never seen.
I have one with a none serrated back strap so oddities are out there.
Thanks
Mike

My guess is he just put up the wrong picture by mistake. That looks like a K38, K32, or K22. Spectacular holster, though!

Gentlemen:

I've just lucked out, able to purchase a lightly used 27-2 from an estate, and I only knew enough about it that I shouldn't let it get away. It currently has a Pachmayr grip- that just won't do. Nickel finish, 3.5" barrel.

How can I trace the manufacture date? I see so many photos of beautiful pieces with gorgeous grips- who makes them for this gun?

I'm a newbie to the group and look forward to learning more about this revolver- I don't know whether to shoot it and enjoy it, or lock it up in the gunsafe...

Welcome to the forum! If you post the first few digits of the serial number here, we can help you with the date. I would recommend buying the Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson. It has the answers to many questions such as yours, and it is indispensable if you are interested in Smith and Wessons.

Many people here love the work of grip makers Keith Brown and Kurac. Keith has a website, and Kurac is a member of this forum that can be contacted via private message. Of course, the larger commercial grip makers are options as well.

Guilty as charged & I was not seeing who was paying attention. Here's what I meant to post:

Thanks for catching that- 66Park was right just a bone headed error on
my part (K-38 is correct).
