Most Excellent!!

Does your source indicate when the new law goes
into effect? I'll be in Savannah the week after 4th of
July. I might slip across the river, if I can go armed.

I am sure that for those that live in Georgia, close to the S.C. line, as we once did, that this will be a soothing breeze of ease. Fishing or hunting right where the two states come together could really be a pain-and a real inconvenience if sighted by S.C. law enforcement.

According to the South Carolina Legislature's History of Legislative Actions quoted below, the bill became effective immediately upon being signed into law by Governor Haley.

"Time effective

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor."

She signed it.....GREAT!.......But does that mean Georgia will automatically honor our SC permits?...........Hope so.......Been a part time Ga. resident for 13 years.

According to "Handgunlaw.us": quote.. "Georgia's reciprocity law states they will automatically honor any state that honors them". So it seems that Georgia honors the South Carolina permits also. :)

Fantastic news! I have always voted with my feet and my money. I rarely go to any place that won't allow me the right to protect myself and my family. Up until this week, that included SC. The next vacation that we take will likely be there. I also believe in rewarding good behavior.

On Monday, Georgia AG Sam Olens added SC to the list of states Georgia shares reciprocity with. Olens has been known to drag his feet in recognizing such sates, but he was quickly called to task. In fact, Georgia law requires that he do so. Evidently, he learned his lesson. He wasted no time this time.

South Carolina Added by Attorney General Olens to List of States Entitled to Georgia

Ga. CWP's are now honored in SC, if you are a GA resident you need to familiarize yourself with our concealed carry law as that is the standard that will be applied while you're in SC. This is progress :)

I just got back from an annual business trip to SC, and it was SO NICE not to stop near the GA/SC border and secure my handguns in the trunk.

For years I thought of the irony. IF I'd lived in SC I'd have automatically qualified for their extra requirements (ex-military, member of a gun club, active competitor), but GA's requirements were lower than theirs for the general public.

I'm glad both states now honor the licenses of the other.
