Retired and have spare time now. Spent the last couple of days loading every piece of.38/.357 brass I had, about 700 rounds loaded. Total inventory of 1800-2000 rounds in stock. I put 158 grain Bayou Bullets SWC over 3.5 grains of 231 and the .38’s got the same projectile over 3.3 grains of 231. Very pleasant to shoot and extremely accurate.

These days I'd......

It also keeps you out of the bars and otherwise out of mischief, at least for a little bit.

...MUCH rather spend my time reloading and shooting than in bars.:)

I've been on a reloading tear. I've got 9mm coming out the windows and piles of .223 that I need to test before I shoot more.

Let's see: .38? Got plenty. .357? Wouldn't hurt. 7.62 x 39, 7.62 x 54R, 7.7 Arisaka or 8mm Mauser? If I have enough cases. .44 Magnum? I have plenty of cases and a few bullets. 30-06? I've got plenty but I have a lot of cases and bullets.

I just got in 3000 primers and have 1000 Missouri 9mm 124gr SWCs coming.

Glad to hear it is working out. I have a bunch of 38 S&W Specials loaded up with my favorite wadcutter bullet. One target load and one hardball load. Don’t shoot much of the 36 calibers anymore so they should last me.

I too am retired and reloading this past week. So far .357 , 300 rounds, 38 spec., 200 rounds, .44 special ,200 rounds , and .44 mag., 250 rounds, and I'm not done yet.
I also use 158. gr, swc { Rim Rock } bullets and have used a few different powders. including 231 .
Keeps me out of the wife's hair, lol !

I have been a slacker for the last couple of years. My usual winter project is also reloading all of the empty pieces of brass I have. I have 3,000 primed 9mm cases ready to finish reloading.

Sadly after 256 rounds I have a Glock 43X that has suddenly decided that it doesn’t like my usual 9mm load that has always worked fine in all of my other 9mm’s. Just to muck things up even more I have replaced the oem barrel with a threaded barrel and compensator so I need to spend some bench time working up hotter loads and going to the range. I probably should try 124
gr. bullets to see how well they work with the compensator.

Since we are in the “hot dome” I have no excuse for not watching TV and do some reloading.

I gotta get back to it. Haven’t reloaded a round in over a year. Have probably 1000 primed and ready to go. Just don’t feel like using up components that are gonna be far more expensive to replace right now.

I have a Dillon 1050 but don’t have a .38/357 conversion kit for it, so I’m loading on my old late 70’s era Rockchucker. Sure makes you appreciate a progressive machine

Always nice to stock pile some ammo, just in case you might get the itch to go out shooting.

When the temps here, get back into the low 80's, I will be going outside again
where I can shoot for free.

Way to go.

I recently quit reloading 9mm & .223. At the present time the price of loaded ammo in those calibers has come down to the point where its no longer worth the time and effort to reload them IMO. I concentrate on 38/357, 45acp, 45colt, 44mag/spec, 32-20, calibers that are more expensive as loaded ammo. I find the left over 9mm 124 plated bullets I have shoot quite well in 38/357.

I just picked up another Dillon 550 that I’m installing on the bench in my man cave and setting up as a dedicated 10mm factory. It’s just been too hot in the garage to do any reloading, but I’ll keep the other 550 out there and get back to the other calibers when it cools down a bit. As of now, I still have a lot of .38 spec, .357 mag, and .45acp to keep me shooting while I replenish the 10mm.

I tend toward a slightly spicier load with slower powders, but the bullet is hard to argue with.
An honest 158 chunk O lead from a 357 or 38 will take care of just about anything you can't justify a 44 for.

Even though I'm retired I don't go on long reloading binges. I usually only load 1 cartridge at a time. Sometimes I'll work on an older cartridge that I might be able to improve accuracy. (like the 303 British I worked on last week)

I like to take my time now that I do have the time lol.

That's whats holding me back as well. I just can't enjoy shooting when I have sweat running down in my eyes just standing there.

Keep loading

With 357 Mag brass and 158 LSWC I go 5 grains of W231 and its accurate and about 900 fps

With 38 Special brass and 158 LSWC I go 4 grains of W231 and its accurate too and about 800 fps

With the 303 British do you "Neck Size"? I found that worked best for my rifle than Full Length Sizing.
