Beer

I like Mexico, favorite beers from there are Sol and Corona. For a heavier beer I like Sam Adams Cherry Wheat, Blue Moon, a couple of others I can't recall right now.

I'll try anything. I am partial to IPA's, Porters, Stouts and dark ales. Not really into the lighter pilsners nor do I care for the heavier Belgan lagers. Beer is like, well.........you know. Some are better than others but I've never had a bad one. ;)

Maybe I'm not so picky?

Some of my favorites:
Yuengling
New Castle Brown Ale
Dos Equis Amber
Abita Amber
Abita Turbo Dog
Abita Strawbery Harvest
Sapporo
Carta Blanca

Always open to new ideas!

I brew my own from scratch. I buy bulk malted barley & malted wheat that I grind as needed to brew a batch. I also grow my own hops and buy hops in bulk as needed. I harvest yeast from a batch and then propagate my own yeast for the next batch. A batch is about 5 gallons, which costs me less than half the cost of a decent beer by the case. My favorite is a Blue Moon clone and an Agave Wheat clone.

Okay, so there have been all kinds of threads about everyone's favorite spirits and wines, but not one about beer.
Actually there've been a number of beer threads on this forum, and they sometimes tend to become a little contentious. Must be a few members who are mean drunks. :)

Like others have said, I've practically never had a beer or an ale I didn't like, but it has happened. Some of the brews already mentioned--Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA and Arrogant B*st**d, for instance--are excellent but a little too pricey for a cheap b*st**d such as myself.

Some that I think are good and affordable are Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and Torpedo, and New Belgian Ranger.

Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat.
To each his own, I suppose, but to me this stuff tastes like cheap cough syrup. It's probably popular with high school boys who'd like to get their dates drunk. It seems like a beer for people who don't like beer.

I used to drink just about any beer. I don't drink beer much any more because of my expanding waistline.
My wife and I both lost a lot of weight by following a strict low-carb diet. Our principle source of carbohydrates is beer. You've gotta have priorities!

I appreciate all the suggestions. Looks like I need to get busy sampling!

One beer I used to enjoy but don't ever see anymore is Bud Dry. I don't know if they stopped making it or not.

I am into the reds at the moment. I like Killian's. Had a chance to drink some Alaskan Amber this past June and thought it was good. I am not much into Sam Adams but do like their Oktoberfest.

Yes, their Oct fest is great!

Never found a taste for beer so all we do is use it in cooking and baking.

I like Killians, Yeunglings Black & Tan and their Lager too. Sometimes I will drink some of the Sam Adams beers.

There is a mini brewery in Kennebunk, Maine, which I spend time at when we vacation there in the Fall. They have some good brews.
Forgot the name of the place though as my memory is not what it used to be. I have to check now and then to be sure I'm zipped up too.:(:D

I'm not a beer snob but I enjoy beer.

For recreational drinking (yes we do that in Wisconsin) when you know you are going to drink 30 or more beers (yes this is quite common) I drink Bud Light.

When I want to enjoy a really good beer I typically lean German, but there are many US beers that are fab too. I also spent a couple days at the Hoffbrauhaus in Munich, and while I didn't think the first liter of their Haus Bier was the best, by the time I had 6 or 7 liters in me I was convinced it was the finest liquid that ever passed my lips!

Have you tried Lienenkugel's Snowdrift Vanilla Porter? Since they were bought out by Miller Brewing I never thought they would put out a decent beer again... I was wrong, and the Snowdrift is flying off the shelves and finding its way into every tavern tapper.

I enjoy Weiss beers in the summer, bocks and porters in the winter and tend to stay away from very citrusy IPA's.

Thank God there are so many different beers!!!

Oh, I forgot Saxer brewing company's "Three Fingered Jack" heffedunkel.

I like Rolling Rock.

I did try the 10% alky Hogs Heaven....nasty taste....but about half way....got very silly.

I like to try different beers.

I was in NYC.....went to eat pizza at Lombardi's (VG pizza)

I asked what they had on tap....the waiter suggested Brooklyn Lager

OMG.....I guzzled two glasses down! 6% alky

The bottled Brooklyn Lager does not even come close.

If we ever go back to NYC, I will drop the family off @ Macy's and hang out at the Brooklyn Brewry!

Beer is one of my favorite topics (not to mention one of my favorite beverages). I admit that I don't drink as much of it as I used to but in my years and varied locations of drinking beer I have a fairly broad experience in beer drinking and I have formed some conclusions which I feel qualified to offer for consideration. I realize that tastes vary and that is fine with me. But I'll tell ya all that what I don't get is the "Fad" type popularity with some products such as beer. I know that advertising plays a huge part here especially in America. But that still doesn't explain how a beer like Bud Lite can become so popular. In my opinion it'd make a better driveway cleaner than beverage. I find it hard to believe that anyone would drink it if others weren't watching. I think that this phenomenon can be partially explained by the need of lots of people to be accepted by their peers. It's like a "me too" thing or "hey y'all, look at me. I'm drinkin' Bud Lite or I'm wearin' Tommy Hilfiger. Does this make me cool? Can I be in the in crowd now"?

In any case here is my thoughts on beer. For one thing America has lost it's way in the quest for good beer. We are ate up with the concept of lite beer. I find it curious that most of the people drinking it are fat. As for me I drink beer for TASTE. I love it. Drinking lite beer to me is like wearing a faded shirt or eating bacon made from turkey. It just ain't real y'all.

We here in Texas are very fortunate to have a brewery that still makes fantastic beer. Shiner. Shiner bock is delicious, full bodied and rich. They have a fairly new product out called Shiner Black and it is even darker and richer and better tasting.

Amongst other American beers that I like are Genuine Miller Draft. Not a dark beer but very very good. Samuel Adams also has several great tasting full bodied beers.

Some of the imports I like are Fosters Lager from down under and of course Heniken dark draft. But I think my favorite Import is Negro Modello from Mexico. The Mexicans know how to make great beer! Negro Leon is another great one.

What I'd like to see is for EVERYONE to drink the beer that tastes best to them and not what they think will make them popular with other people. It's beer y'all, for cryin' out loud. Be a man and drink what you like and if someone else don't like it to heck with them.

Okay, I've said my say and I'm off my soap box. As you were.....
