Beginner question

[PDD]

Just got my 686 back from the factory and it says they replaced rod and c.p. anybody know what c.p. refers to?

After shooting a box of 357 for some reason the cylinder would not close so I sent it in for repairs.
I am guessing some chance of overpowered ammo might have caused some damage.

Probably the cylinder pin -- the rod that runs inside the extractor rod. The rear nub of it sticks out from the ejector star and slides across the blast plate when you open and close the cylinder.

I'd bet the original were bent...

Center pin, not cylinder pin. And it was probably simply a matter of "good practice" when the extractor rod was replaced.

Welcome to the FORUM! Hopefully everything is well now. I have a 686-3, 6", and a 586 no dash, 4". Never had a lick of a problem with either. Never had the recall done on the 586. Get out & shoot it! Bob
