Belly band holster

I wore a back support belt for work. I can't imagine that a belly band would be any different. I am a scuba diver so I am used to neoprene on my skin too.

i have to wear one now every time i'm lifting or doing heavy work; need the support. So I could see where the similarity to a belly band would come into play as I can get used to the wrapped feeling.

I'd admit though that i have considered a belly band as an option for short periods, ie exercise, wearing gym shorts, etc but i dont think i'd use one long term or over a holster/belt option.

That's what I'm looking for, short periods. I like my Aliengear for normal wear.

The hot weather of summer can make concealed carry quite a challenge, and for many, this results in leaving the gun at home. you will have to make some adjustments and sacrifices to accomplish carrying effectively and safely throughout the year. Personally, I don't like the belly band. It's extremely sweaty and uncomfortable too.

I've worn a neoprene back belt working outdoors before and while it is a bit hot, it is not that bad. I've looked at many other options and the belly band seems like the best option for what I need. I just need info on which one works best to hold a pistol. One key point is I don't want the gun to touch my skin any more than necessary, particularly the muzzle.

In preparation for the summer I am considering a belly band holster for those days when I don't want to wear a belt. I have an Aliengear Cloak Tuck 3 that works great but not without a belt.

Here is what I need to do:

Shield 9mm (snug fit)
Carry at 3:00 IWB
1-2 extra mags
Comfortable against my skin

What advice can you guys & gals offer?

Cliff

I recently ordered a belly band for summer wear while biking and just because of wearing lightweight clothing with no belt.

I ordered mine from Daltech Force. I am very happy with their service and the product and would recommend them.

They are custom made to your specs when you order.
I told them exactly how and where I wanted the pockets placed and they did it exactly to my request. I even requested a smaller pocket for my money clip to be added beside the mag pouch and they added it with no problem.
I opted for the extra spandex lining for comfort against my bare skin and I am glad I did as it feels smooth and comfortable.
They are made in the USA and the materials are of high quality.

That looks like what I'm looking for. I'll have to give them a call. Thanks.

I use one at times with my 442. I wear it at belt line keeping the gun in the Appendix Area. Kind of like using a Smart carry. Today it was in the high 80s I used it because my back is bothering me and it gives some support. The Belly Band got wet and so did the gun. If I do this again I'm going to put it in a pocket Holster and insert that into the Belly bands Holster pocket to better protect the gun.

That's one reason I was looking at a neoprene band. They don't soak thru as easily and neoprene is soft and comfortable.

Been using belly bands year 'round in Ga. for about 20 years. I've got a lot of holsters, but the belly band lets me carry anywhere, any time. At the end of the day, simply hang it up and let it air out. I'll use the same one for several years. I use it at about 4:00 or appendix, or anywhere I want to. I like choices.

Here's a second vote for the Crossbreed belly band. The Kydex is much more secure than the floppy pocket that most belly bands offer. The Velcro also allows one to position the holster for the exact ride height and cant wanted, and the magazine pouch works the same way (I haven't used the magazine pouch as I carry only a J-Frame in this rig). One thing to remember: if you intend to carry low around the hips appendix style as I do or high just under the pecs like a shoulder holster, measure that area, and add an inch or so. I made the mistake of just ordering my waist size, and it's a bit snug around my hips. Fortunately, Crossbreed sells an extension piece for about $4.00, but I should have just measured correctly in the first place.

Also, I wear Fruit of the Loom tank tops underneath my T-shirts in the summer. They are cut fairly long and tapered so they stay tucked in, and are very light, not bulky at all. It makes a belly band or any IWB holster a hundred times more comfortable. And it has the added benefit of keeping a lot of sweat off the gun. I would wear the tank even if I didn't carry because I'm a sweaty Eddie, and I hate sweating through my T-shirt immediately. Moob sweat is not the most attractive thing on a middle-aged man :P

I've used a smart carry for two years under scrub pants. I currently use a J-frame and a LCP in it at the 1 o'clock position just under the waist band. The j-frame's handle rides above the waistband but the LCP rides below. But there's no reason you couldn't use it at the 3 o'clock and they have models to fit extra mags. It rides outside of my boxers so it never contacts my skin.

Shield in a smart carry is easy. I use one with my Shield in the summer all the time . Under Cargo shorts or even basketball/workout types of shorts, it's invisible and once you get it into "position" it's very comfortable. I have friends that carry FS 1911's in smart carry.

I use the Belly Band and I love it - I can wear any shorts or shorts as it is not IWB (unless you want) and practically do not print with g43 and can put the gun in any position around the waist, including the cross to draw while driving.

I hope that you don't mind that I am restarting an old thread but what about daltech force? They make some very nice belly band holsters.

I don't mind at all. Maybe someone new will read it too and help them with their search.

As an update, I still haven't bought a belly band, just lazy I guess. I did buy a Ruger LCP II that fits in my pocket for use now. I still am interested in something for my Shield 9 though.
