I have a new M&P 15-22 sport. I was taking the bolt carrier assembly out yesterday and it fell on the floor from like 2 feet onto a wood floor

it has a slight upward bend, I am assuming that is abnormal, although its hard to believe such a minor fall could damage it so much. The bolt still slides fairly well until the very last 1/8" where there is some resistance.

S&W wants me to send back the entire gun and won't sell me a new bolt carrier group even though the gun hasn't been fired before.

Has this happened to anyone? should i try to bend the rails back?

Does anybody know if the M&P 15-22, the sport I and sport II all have interchangeable bolt carrier groups?? I found these online but not sure if they will work:

Have you actually tried firing it? - Problem > see next step. No Problem > continue to use.

Try gentle bending the rails and try shooting again - Problem > Send it back to S&W. No problem > continue to use.

i havent been able to give it a try since we still have a lockdown in our area and riots but ill try when i get a chance, thanks. The worse that could happen is the next round doesn't get chambered right?

The rails are heat treated so I doubt they were bent by a 2' fall. I'm in the try it camp.
