Looking to get a value on a Beretta 84 Cheetah.380. I have had a chance to examine it personally but it appears to be like new. $500 is the asking price. Comes with case and 2 mags. Your thoughts please.

That's an excellent price. The Model 84 seems to be one of the more popular Cheetah/Series 81 variants thanks to its double-stack magazines. I purchased a surplus Model 85 (single stack) recently for $420-ish including the high transfer fees that local FFLs charge near me.

Suffice it to say that if I were presented a package as nice as the 84 you're looking at, the $500 would be out of my wallet before I could blink! Good deal for sure.

Ladder13,

My fear in a situation like this is that the guy will sell it before I get there. A friend of a friend has it and is supposed to hold it for me. Unfortunately, I can’t get there until Saturday.

Is there any way to get some money to him so he will hold it. Pap was a trader and it's unreal how many people will say I will buy it when...... but never show up. He didn't hold anything without a deposit so the first with the money was the buyer. Larry

I’m glad that I didn’t send any money. The seller flaked out on me. Decided that he doesn’t want to sell. Oh, well!

He is a friend of my “nephew “ Will. I’ve known Will since he was about 5 years old. He’s about 36 years old now.

The guy that owns the guns may be in some legal trouble. He hasn’t been convicted of anything yet. He gave the guns to another friend to sale for him. He hasn’t really advertised them as far as I know. I don’t know what prompted the change of heart.

More than once when buying a gun I left a deposit that had at least 1 Golden Dollar in it. I figure that way it will be remembered that I was going to buy the gun after I pulled the rest of the purchase price together.

That would have been a great price if you could have gotten it. I paid $650.00 for one not too long ago. An 84F to be specific. The F model has the decocker safety and cannot be carried cocked and locked. It also has a magazine disconnecter. Decocking the pistol leaves the trigger in sort of a "half cocked" position that gives it a shorter, lighter DA first shot.

And it never fails. No sooner had I gotten the Beretta than a Tisas Fatih 13, a Turkish clone of the 84BB turns up at my LGS for about half the price of the Beretta (both used), but in stainless and silver finished aluminum (I understand a blue/black color is available). I decided I needed a spare.

This one can be carried cocked and locked, but has no decocker, or magazine safety. If you want to lower the hammer for a DA first shot, you have to do it manually, which is not a problem in my world.

Magazines will interchange with no problems, as will holsters. The Tisas might have a slightly better trigger especially in DA. In my experience, Turkish guns tend to have very good triggers.

The Tisas has become my carry gun, so I don't have to worry about beating up the Beretta.

I'd be all over that Tisas in a heartbeat if there were wood grips readily available for it. I don't believe Beretta 81/Cheetah grips fit properly on it.
