I was planning to sell an older Bianchi leather shoulder holster, since I recently sold my Beretta 92... and on a whim I slid my new-to-me S&W 3953 in to see if it would fit....
and it fit like a glove! Even the thumb-strap retainer fits perfectly! The magazine carrier on the rig is a little loose with the single-stack 3953 magazines, but they fit, albeit a little loosely.
Since I had an ultra-cool Safariland 6004 tactical leg drop holster for the Beretta, that I was also planning to sell, I tried the 3953 again... and again, another snug, perfect fit! And the slide lock that covers the top of the pistol works perfectly, too!
I am surprised that the fit on both rigs is so perfect... I would have thought the Beretta was twice the size of the S&W 3913/3953... but it fits in the right places. The S&W's have shorter barrel and slide, so it doesn't "bottom-out" in the Safariland like the Beretta did, but I guess there is enough of the meat of the pistol to fit both holsters like a glove.
Lesson learned: do not sell or get rid of quality holsters just because you sell a gun. Try out a few other guns...you may be pleasantly surprised! I feel like I just won a new $100 shoulder and tactical rig for my 3953 that cost me NOTHING!
