Beretta 92, Wilson Combat VS Langdon Tactical

A question I've always had, which is better from the fellas who have owned both???

I've had a WC Brigadier Tactical, but never shot it, I had a Centurion tactical and absolutely loved it, but sold it...

Talking to a couple of gun bros, some say they love one or the other and wouldn't swap, so I'm asking for some opinions from my favorite forum....

Tell me your experiences and why? Do you own both and prefer one over the other ? Or are they equal?

I'm bored looking for another gun perspective, nothing else interests me in this polymer era...

I have a Wilson Combat Centurion Tactical and Langdon's "original Tacticool Beretta" (he designed it when he worked for Beretta)........... the Beretta 92 Elite II.

Both are great guns..... features are different; my guess Wilson got there first and got exclusive rights to some features.... like round trigger guard and the "G" decocker only ..... Langdon got the decocker kit.

Pick the one with the features you like. For me the decision was I wanted the Centurion with the "original" G features and round trigger guard..... as I had the 4.7" full size Elite IIs. Wish I'd gotten a WC Compact; but no luck there!

Third option is build your own ..... Wilson or Langdon will customize. Along with Allegheny Arms and Gun Works here in the Burgh all "build" great guns. Allegheny Arms did action work on both my Elite IIs and factory Centurions.

I have an LTT Elite and had a WC 92FS.
Still have the LTT

Big picture, if you like a short trigger travel and very short reset, (like a 3rd gen S&W) Langdon is the way to go.
Apart from that, they are basically the same quality, and same features.

Never considered a Taurus, I shot one long ago but don't remember much about it....

Have a 92X, Have a Wilson 92, Had a LTT 92. All three are superb, the Wilson, for me is the best one. Sold the LTT, kept the other two.

WC puts more effort into the
aesthetics of the 92 and I
like it. Some of it is pure
cosmetics but just as many
revolver guys prefer the
Model 27 over the Model 28
for the same aesthetic reasons.

I've never liked the "pinto" look
of the Langdon tricked up
92s but they certainly do perform
well.

I'm unfamiliar with these apparently custom "tactical" pistols, but I bought a new Beretta 92F in 1988. I've shot it quite extensively since that time, mainly experimenting with many cast bullet designs. I've always been amazed at how well the Beretta flawlessly handles cast bullets in even the semi-wadcutter configuration, a bullet style it was never designed for. With some load development, the Beretta can also be a very accurate pistol with cast or jacketed bullets, straight-out-of-the box with no modifications or tampering.

Perhaps the custom guns mentioned will do as well or even better, but don't overlook the plain Beretta. It's a pretty good pistol as is.

I own 3 LTTs a Compact, Centurion and a Fullsized. All the guns have the LTT trigger job the Centurion has the NP3 upgrade. I also own a Wilson Vertec Brigadier Tactical.

There are things to love about both platforms. There is a lot of Langdon in the Wilson guns. He consulted on their design. For me the biggest difference is the LTT trigger bar. It is superior to the Wilson. The reset is much shorter on the LTT. I have considered swapping the Wilson part for an LTT on the Vertec.

Really it both are high quality guns which show you what the 92 platform is capable of. IMHO

From what I can remember of my last guns that was the biggest distraction, the long reset...

I'll get this one in and see, maybe I can by the part stand alone and fix that issue

Well I tripped and fell into both a Brigadier Vertec and a Centurion Vertec...

I've shot the Brigadier and it's a huge learning curve coming from S&W, hopefully I can shoot the Centurion this weekend.

I find it fascinating how a set of stocks can turn an old plain-Jane 92 Italian surplus into something a little easier on the eyes and much nicer fit in the hand. The sights are basically useless without some white nail polish but this 92 shoots where I aim it at maybe 25-30 yards.

Late to the thread, I am. I have a Wilson Brig Tac and I've shot a friends Langdon. I've found I am drawn just a bit more to the Wilson, more refinement and it just "feels and shoots" a tad better. That could also be just me, apples to oranges.

The only thing I'd change, which you fell into from the start, is having the Vertec model. I'm a straight backstrap kind of guy and I like the straight Vertec much more than the fistfull of Beretta. I didn't have a choice though, as the initial cost was a $20 raffle ticket.

Just installed the LTT short reset trigger bar and man this that make a world of difference hopefully shooting this weekend.

Got them both out to the range today, I've shot the Brig tac a bit more than the centurion so results were better.

Recoil impulse is very different between the 2, but the LTT trigger bar did the trick both are great guns and have a very nice feel, they will hang for a bit unless I find something that is an absolute must..

Back in the 90s one of fellow armorers was the captain of the depts Action Pistol team. We had lots of parts and were contantly messing with 92 model Berettas. We found some older model Beretta triggers that shortened the trigger press and were a bit straighter than the newer ones. We put roll pins in the back of the triggers as trigger stops. Added light weight hammers, cutting some down, but went with the Elite style when they came out. Cut springs, switched out and polished trigger bars, pins, hammers, triggers and the hammer spring channel, and guide. You could get the S/A under 4 and the D/A to about 6 and the gun still worked reliably, with factory ammo. Even with full length( just weaker) spring the hammer was pretty sluggish so we usually left them about 8-9. We even went so far as to fit barrel blocks(more like making sure they were even) and swapping out barrels. We also tried out a lot of different do-dads. His team had Elite 11s, but the sights were so small we installed the excellent Aristocrat 92 rear sight on most of the guns, trimming down the sides a bit to increase the field of view.

I was one of the guys assigned to test fire all the recruits guns prior to issue. 6 rounds at 25 yds at a 6" white bullseye. I will tell you after shooting thousands of Berettas over the years they are a pretty nice pistol. Most shot 3 to 4 inch groups a very few went to 5 or so. But every so often one would do 1.5 -2". We always marked those boxes.

Kept some of the top ends we customized and my dept Berettas I was issued to teach with. My personal one is a special FTU training div model Beretta Centurian made during the heyday.

Beretta has made some real improvements since those days and some way cool models. I cant afford !!! I will have to look up some of those new custom parts, good project for this winter. I like that Wilson mag guide, the lanyard loop does kinda the same thing probably not as well or look as good.
