Yep, the Beretta 8000 Cougar. I wanted an 8040 really badly a few years back, but by then they were completely out of production, even the ones made by Stoeger were long gone.

The Cougar, whether made by Beretta or Stoeger was an accurate, soft shooting pistol. I'm on my 3rd Stoeger 8045 since the first two were bought out of my hands by pleading friends after they shot mine with full power 45ACP loads and couldn't believe how pleasant it was.

If Beretta ever made them in 10mm, they would have had a whole new audience for these pistols.

My Beretta Cougar 8040F, bought when they first came out and still unfired.

The Stoeger version can frequenty be found on a well known auction site, sometimes at reasonable prices (maybe more so the 9mm version). I regret passing on a couple of used Stoeger versions.
