If it is like the Cougar action, I would expect it to be pretty swell.

I had a Cougar 45 which was double action only.

The gun was accurate, but I can not get used to DAO.

The Cougar 45 handles very well. I think you will have to get a previouslly owned one.

www.berettaforum.net check out the web site there is a lot of smarts there. He he I am a geezer, too! My beretta forum name is graffer.

I am very partial to the model 92 FS stainless steel.

jed SW and Sig graffer on beretta and the high road

I have a 8045 Cougar. It's a fun-to-shoot gun. Here's what I think:

Grip: Great in my hands.
Tear-down for cleaning: a bit weird with the unusual barrel design...but no big deal either.
Sights: I do not like them. Too close together (rear) and thus hard for me to pick up...might be me.
Accuracy: Just fine...accurate gun.
Trigger: Not so great after you get used to good triggers...in fact the LOOOONNNNGGGG pull STINKS (but that's Beretta). I sent mine to Ernest Langdon for a trigger job...at least now, when you finish the 1/4 mile pull of the trigger it falls cleanly.

Don't get me started on the Stogger "deal" Beretta made that KILLED resale!!!

Fun gun, would not buy another.

Bob

Used to have a Cougar 8045. Beautifully conceived and built gun. What I didn't like: reach to the trigger was odd for me, never could get completely used to it. Also, absolutely hated the dinky, sharp edged safety-decocker; really the only strong negative for me. Soft-shooting, accurate gun.
