BEST AUTO PISTOLS YOU OWNED

Although I love blue steel and walnut, the most utterly reliable autoloader I've ever owned is my G26 (9mm baby Glock).

One of its big advantages is that I can eat salted peanuts and then pick it up without washing the salt off my hands, something I'd never do with one of my revolvers. :)

Sig P220 carry is the best auto I've got. Although they don't get too much attention, I love my S&W M&P .40. 2500+ rounds through it in the past two years and no FTFs or FTEs what so ever.

Best $400 I ever spent.

A pair of stock West German SIG 228s. Both survived a pair of week-long Thunder Ranch sessions (when TR was in TX), and have functioned flawlessly with 1,000s of rounds between them. A West German SIG 220 comes in a close second, but has not seen nearly the use of the 228s.

By far...my SIG P228. Best shooting handgun I've ever owned. My P226 is a close second, but somehow didn't equal it. Sold it after getting a traffic citation. Only gun that I've gotten rid of that I truly miss.

Perhaps a minority opinion, but my BuckMark Camper is just a lot of fun and very accurate as well.

The Ruger MkI bull-barrel I had 30 years ago was pretty sweet, but my Springfield Mil-Spec that I had the Springfield Custom Shop fit with their "defense package" would be my favoritest of all.

This one - CZ75 P01 w/ Kadet .22lr conversion kit.
Both have functioned perfectly. The conversion kit is a blast and cheap too.

And a close second, after I installed an VQ extractor, is a Ruger MKII Target 512.

Wow, Sigs are getting some love in this thread. Makes a guy think...

I held several Sigs and none of them ever impressed me. A friend wanted to sell his 228 because he could no longer get free 9mm at work. I was going to pass until he put a price on it:$250. I wouldn't pass that up.

The first range trip was not particularly impressive. The second trip I split time between the Sig and an FNP9. 25 rounds into the FN I realized that I wished I was still shooting the Sig.

I sold the FN that day. Now, the Sig keeps growing on me. I won't use it for EDC because I don't want it to rust. Otherwise, it goes to the range every time I do.

There are lots of excellent autos out there.
Here are my 5 favorites.
