Now that everyone has been playing with the 15-22, what is the sweet deal under $100 ( reg price or on sale) for this gun? I don't want to spend a ton of money on this scope as it is going to AR builds, but would like to increase the fun factor.

Scope? Or sight? As in telescope? Or red dot sight? At the ranges this rifle of capable of, a red dot is more useful for me.

If you are looking for a inexpensive good quality red dot, Primary makes a couple of great options. Here is my range report on it -PA Red Dot

I just ordered a M4 red dot from them, i'll post up after I get some range time in with it on.

Sorry I wasn't specific. I have not shot with any sighting device so it's all new to me. I guess I'd like to try both a scope and a red dot . I can always put the other on one of the ar's.
I know I have seen people here with both. For those who have used both types, which do you guys like better on the 15-22?

I put a Primary Arms M4 Style Red Dot ($89.00 + shipping) on my 15-22 and am very pleased with it. Very easy to install and zero in. Very accurate. Worth considering IMO.

Well,my 60 year old eyes wont let me shoot dots or irons.I need the magnafacation.I prefer scoped guns and have for a olng time. It's what ever works for you and your shooting style.Ican shoot dots,if I'm just rolling cans around. But to shoot small targets or small groups,I need all the help I can get.

I picked up a CenterPoint Adventure Class 4-16x40mm at WalMart for 64 bucks and it worked out well for testing the rifle out to 100 and beyond. Red and Green Lighted Reticle. I then put that scope on my air rifle and moved up to a RedField 3-9X40 Accurange on a Primary Arms canted one piece scope mount. That setup is perfect in my opinion.

The redfield is $150, but is the first generation of the "Return of Redfield" scope made by leupold and is a $300+ scope if I ever looked through one. Leupold doesn't want this brand name to flop.

I tested it on my 308 AR-10 and it worked flawlessly.

Go look through a few scopes.

Depends on what type of shooting you will be doing.

With the 15-22 I like shooting at stuff in the 50yd and under range that moves around like cans and shot shells. A 1x red dot works well for that. With a lot of magnification you'll spend a great deal of time trying to find em rather than shot em. If you intend to shoot at paper a higher powered optic is the way to go. 3-9x is a popular choice.

Red dots - Most any will work fine on a .22 rifle. My $29 BSA works just as well as my $130 PA. A lot of the decision is based upon how you want your rifle to look. The pic thread here is a great place to see what stuff looks like and then ask about what interests you.

Powered scopes is another matter. Some just really suck while others are great for about the same price. Before buying a cheapo, either look through it or get some feedback here on the particular model. Midway also has good customer reviews for scopes they sell.

The below link is a good site to shop for tacticool optics. Most all the optics are in the price range you are looking for, and most all have pics mounted on a 15-22. He is also a good guy to do business with.

Hope this helps.

ps. Jeff (above) is right on. If you are new to optics try getting out to a gun show and look thru a bunch of different scopes.

I got a centerpont from wally world too. Someone else who was doing a lot of testing with different ar 22's tried it out and thought it was a great scope for the money. He was quite surprised on it's accuracy as it exceeded his expectations.

I have a primary Arms red dot and magnifier on my AR15. Holds zero looks like an aimpoint for half the price. any of their sights would be a good fit on the 15-22

That's why I went with a low magnification scope. Only thing I would have to say about my choice, is I seem to either be at 1.5x (both eyes open) or at 4X (one eye). A red dot with a magnifier would have worked just as well for how I have ended up using my scope.

We have been very impressed with the hammers red dot.. we have been paying 50 shipped for them and have bought 3 in the last couple months nothing but good things to say about them

There is another option..... Magnified scope, red dot and iron sights all available on the rifle.

Beltfed, can you tell me what the model number is on the hammer?

Hey everyone, I really appreciate the help. The prices for these are cheap enough where I might try a few. Last night I ordered the Primary Arms M4 Style Red Dot. It seemed to get good reviews on other forums. I ordered it and they sent me an email saying it was shipped that day. Pretty good service so far.
