Hallo, did anybody compared CCI mini-mag Vs CCI standard velocity on M&P 22lr? Standard velocity ammos work well as mini-mag do?

I have the full size version and CCI SV functions just fine in it.

Our 22c loves mini mags but sometimes balks on sv, even after several thousand rounds.

I used to instruct/attend Appleseed rifle shooting courses. When they made the switch away from expensive and loud .30 caliber battle rifles to .22’s, they found a formula that helped reduce .22 malfunctions in semi-autos:

Keep the gun clean and lubricated.
Use quality .22 ammo that has a 40 grain bullet pushed at 1200+ FPS. This provides more cycling power than standard velocities, especially with lighter bullets.

I have found this to be true with my semi-auto pistols (including a M&P .22 full size) and rifles. I buy bulk boxes of Federal Auto Match (40 grn 1200 fps). There is higher quality, more accurate ammo out there, but not for a better price, about $0.05/rnd now. Fairly clean shooting too.

I have used a few other brands with the 40/1200 characteristics and they have worked fine too but some shoot dirtier.

I want my gun to function first, then be accurate. CCI magnums work great but are expensive.

I have only been able to get to the range once since I bought my 22 compact. But I did try on 50 round box of both mini-mags and standard velocity. One stovepipe with the standard velocity but no malfunctions of any type with Mini-mags. Not much of a sample size but in general I have found that if a 22 semiauto pistol or rifle will not run well with mini-mags it won't run well with anything.

I have a few more 100 round boxes of the mini-mags and a couple of cartons of Federal auto-match I am going to try the next time we have a dry weekend here in Georgia. The way the weather has been I might have to break down and go to an indoor range.

I have...ahem...five M&P 22C's I use when I teach NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting, so they get a metric ****ton of ammo through them. I run exclusively Federal Bulk Pak (525 rd or 550 rd box), but for a couple of courses I ran CCI Mini-mags. No gun malfunctions of any kind, although I had a few bad primers (solid strike on the rim but no bang). Nothing to attribute to the guns.

It's a great little pistol design.

Frankly, when I had my compact 22 it ate everything I fed it. With zero ammo issues in 1k rounds. But as I also own a Buckmark that tends to be more finicky i just started buying mini mags (36 or 40 gn) to keep my ammo stock simple and workable for any of my 22’s.

OP, if your compact is new to you, just grab a few asst boxes if different ammo and see how yours runs. It may or may not have the same ammo success that others do

I use cci Blazer 40 gr bricks (500 rounds) in all of my .22 lr handgun and rifles. Also use minimag. The Blazer has similar performance velocity but the projectile is not flash coated and does not have the same sealant as the mini mag.
The cci primers are consistent strong so do not get duds misfires.

I have run over 500 CCI min mags through mine with no malfunctions at all. Was at the range Saturday and a friend gave me 50 rounds of Federal American Eagle... had 8-10 failure to eject.
