Best grip for J frame draw

I carry a 640 pro series with Hogue extreme G10 grips in a Galco horse hide pocket holster. I have lighter J frames, but this is my current favorite due to the improved sight picture provided bu the 3 dot high visibility sights and the ability to shoot .357 magnums if desired. My normal carry load is a .38+P 158 grain jacketed lead flat point.

My model 60 (.38) is wearing VZ G 10 boot grips they call a 320. No texturing or checkering but they have a very grippy feel but aren't sticky. They are small and concealable. They offer no cush, if that an issue for you. I'm quite fond of them and like them better than the original wood or the Packs they wore previously. I recommend them of course the bottom line is use whatever works for you. One size or style doesn't work for all.

I agree, the wood grips and Tyler T fit my hand perfect and offer a smooth friction free draw.

I'm really liking the wood RB on the M49 I have. I'd like to get a set for the M442 I also have. There is also a M43c in the works. Will these stocks fit the newer DAO J-frames? Sorry for the newb question, just not familiar with the J frames. Not the newer ones anyway.

Lord save us from big, fat, rubber grips like Hogue produces. I'm with BigBoku on this one and prefer the slimness of the old wooden ones, supplemented by a Tyler T grip.

The answer is It Depends, on multiple variables .

Hand size is critical , in two different contexts . The efficacy of your grasp for shooting is the obvious . The other is being able to remove the gun from your pocket while gripped .

I have gorilla sized hands , and removing it while gripped is always a struggle . To the point I choose not to pocket carry a J .

Since my ( square butt) M36 rides usually in a pancake holster , it wears Pachymer Grippers .

But that's me , people with normal sized hands will very probably have different milage . For y'all , look at whichever flavor of Boot Grip that suits you .

I use Pachmayr Compacs on my pocket-carried EDC. They give a quick, secure grip with purchase for the little finger, and a high hold for reduced muzzle flip and a faster second shot. Recoil absorption is excellent. They are larger and bulkier than magnas, but I have no trouble concealing the gun in any pockets I wear.

I'm with 'Zagged on the Pachmayr Compacs. I clearanced mine for speedloaders.

I really like plain factory magma style stocks. That being said I have houge tamer on my 640. 38s not bad. 357 heavy recoil. I carry it with 4 38 plus p and a single 357 for last shot just in case. It's all about personal preference.

Is tried them all. Crimson trace 405's. Fit my hand the best. Aren't too sticky. Have a pad over the back strap for shooting .357's. The laser is a bonus.

For pocket carry a shrouded hammer is far more important to me than the grip.

I also like the magna style with grip adapter.... wood or stag.
