Been here long enough (which isn't that long by any stretch) to realize this is probably the most active and informative forum I have found online-the info has been priceless. Been cruising this forum for some time before deciding to sign up a few months ago. In the future I plan on becoming a contributor to keep a great thing going. Other forums either don't have the traffic to stay active enough or have mods who get their panties in a bunch if you post anything negative (in good manner) on a product .....cough.....Remington owners forum. So anyways, I just had to put that out there.....Thanks to everyone who have helped me out or made great conversations so I could mentally escape the negatives in life, the nagging wife, and screaming kids. :D

So, I'll answer my own question, "Best gun forum online?" ........yes.

You might want to read the forum rules especially this one before you go any further with this thread

8. Do not advertise, promote, or attempt to generate traffic for other internet forums, or blogs, or websites, or YouTube channels, or similar sites without prior permission. This applies whether the site is yours or someone else's.
Do not try to circumvent this rule.

Can we get an "AMEN" from the congregation???

We are all above average here. Some more than others.

Of course you have to bear in mind that the bar on the Errornet is not all that high, either.

I quite like this forum.

I'm a new shooter of a plastic gun, and most here seem to tolerate my dumb questions.

Plus there are enough folks here with real world LEO / military experience that it remains relevant to me.

Also, I'm a super mod on a fancy-pants German car forum, and I cam tell you from watching, this place has very good moderators.

All in all, I like it here.

Given my many interests and the several forums that have catered to them or still do . . . I have been part of many "best" forums in the past.

Most have depended or still depend on a small number of talented individuals to help things run smoothly. A very few have had or presently have an active, personable, and involved principal, such as we enjoy here.

Other forums that are similarly blessed, I still enjoy and expect to enjoy for a long time to come. Those not so fortunate in either management or the personalities of the strongest members have experienced variable success over time, with my interest level varying in direct proportion.

In some cases, a strong personality among the forum members, not necessarily a moderator, was either "the life blood" or "an unfortunate presence". How well that member was either nurtured or managed respectively seems to depend on the forum owner's level of competence and attention.

I seem to be babbling here, sorry. :o

In short, here on the Smith & Wesson Forum, we are fortunate to enjoy good management, for which I am grateful.

I like this forum because it's active and has many members who are willing to share their knowledge. I do appreciate the PG tone, but I think there are a few too many rules. This is the only forum I can think of (of which I am a member, and I am a member of quite a few) with a system of penalties and demerits. It sometimes seems we are back in grade school. The enjoyment is tempered by the nagging uncertainty that I might get a ding for a comment, or most recently, by posting an otherwise OK topic in the wrong forum (I haven't been dinged for that, I'm referring to the recent announcement of the newest rule.)

Yeah, I know, before you tell me...I don't have to be here. :)

This is the first and only forum I felt compelled to pay a membership, so that is saying something.

Personally, I like the PG tone and the rules here.

I've really started to hate this forum over the past 6-7 months.

It has caused me to spend way too much money on things I don't really need but just had to have.

:)
