Hey all.

I got out my Factory grips with my Tyler-T-grip and put it back on my M65 in 3-inch. I wanted to compare the feel and grip of them and the rubber finger groove Grips from Midwest Industries…they came with it and aren’t made any longer.

My only negative with the Tyler adapters is that the surface is really slick. That’s why I took them off and put the rubber grips on a while back.

I was wondering if anyone has modified their Tyler adapter to improve the grip on them. If you have, what did you do to them and how did it work out for you?

I like the feel and look of the Tyler grip adapter except for how slick the front strap portion is.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks again for your help.

I wouldn’t modify the T grip by sanding it or anything. They have become to valuable it seems to modify. I just bought some traction tape for front of 1911 and cut it to fit officers frame. They also make a more cushioning rubber one. I would suggest getting this ($10 on Amazon but they also have a website) and cutting a strip to fit the front of T grip. It is granulated rubber and flexes / stretches. Follow intstuctions to apply with hairdryer. It looks very good and feels great. Not abrasive like skateboard tape.

I have a different perspective. I prefer to have some slickness to my stocks. If I get a poor grab on the draw, I can make adjustments while completing the draw. With grabby stocks, it is more of a process.

Suggest you do what I did. Go buy a roll of Vet tape. This stuff is great for providing a tacky surface. And you can get it in colors like hot pink to connect with your inner feminine self ;)

Going against all of the suggestions I would remove the grip adapter, if aluminum and use a sandblaster with some coarse grit, this should suffice to cause more friction from the adapter. This also may work on the other materials from which they are produced although I'm not sure! You should be sure you are willing to change their finish from slick to dull.
