Best oil filter

I use a Purolater Pure One filter for my Honda. I use a special Fram filter on my Ferrari. It was not an ordinary filter. It was made to Ferrari specs. Fram doesn't make it any more. I'm down to just one left. I was told there is a Baldwin filter to use in the Ferrari.

For my 1954 Jaguar XK120, it doesn't use a spin-on filter. I remove the filter can, remove the element for cleaning and reuse. The heck with that. I just install a new filter element.
 
I sell Wix. For years I thought Fram was a quality filter until I saw one cut open. There's a reason why they're priced cheap. Now, I wouldn't run one unless I had no alternative.

Many brands are made by Champion Labs, such as SuperTech, so sometimes it is just a name.:)
 
I've personally cut a dozen different brand of filters open and wix was the best of the bunch. More filter media and a much better anti drain back valve. Fram and the parts house brand were by far the worst.
 
The best? OEM. No..I don't use them often...mainly on newer vehicles..but if you are asking what is the BEST,..thats what I will tell you...and it's 100% the truth.

Not that aftermarkets are all junk..just a LOT of them. Choose wisely...and if in doubt..buy original equipment.

They built the vehicle..they know what is best, and what really fits...not kinda sorta maybe....

I'm working on a 2019 Prius this morning. (Not mine,a customers.) It will be getting a genuine Toyota oil Filter and Toyota 0w-16 motor oil. Why put in anything less?

Both of my vehicles are Fords. I only use Motorcraft filters. Don't know who actually makes them, but Ford set the specs. They know what's best.

But having worked in fleets most of my life, any good name brand filter will be fine. Just stick to the better quality version of whatever the parts house sells. Wix and NAPA Gold are both very good. You never go wrong with OEM.
I do agree with the comments about Fram. I won't use those. I've crushed a bunch of those trying to get them off. If the can is that cheap, what are they using for a filter medium?

The same can be said for oil. Buy the better quality version of any good brand and you'll be just fine. At work we used bulk oil. No specific brand, just whatever the distributor had at the time. Never a problem.
Personally, I've used Valvoline in my vehicles for many years. No particular reason. It works fine and the price is reasonable.

BTW: every fleet I've ever worked in changed oil every 4000 miles instead of the recommended 3000. These were work vehicles that ran a lot of miles every day and often idled for hours. No problems and they lasted a very long time.

As for myself, I don't put a whole lot of miles on my vehicles. Usually less than 5000 miles a year. Pretty much everything I need or place I go is within 10 miles of my home. So I don't worry about mileage. I change my oil twice a year. April and October. Just because the weather is usually nice in both of those months. ;)
 
Depends on which one I'm working on.

Wix for the family's cars, like my parents BMW and our Jeep.
Fleetguard in my Cummins 3/4 ton truck.

And, the cheap Fram with conventional Castrol from day 1 in my Honda Accord. I change it regularly and the first engine died at 507,000 from a head gasket. I replaced it with a used JDM engine and expect a long life from this one.

Look at Bob the oil guy's website. What it basically comes down to is if you change your oil at a reasonable interval, anything is pretty much ok. However, like so many things, there are lots of very heavily weighted opinions on the subject, so to each their own.
