I'm ready to buy a shield now and have been searching the net for a few days. Seems Buds has the best current price ($377 shipped).

I figured this would be a good thread to post good prices or current deals on the Shield. If you find one on sale or at a good price just post it here.

Anybody know of a better deal than Buds?

Unless you're subject to tax, transfers and other fees. By from Buds and be done with it.

If you're a vet you can get further discounts from Bud's by submitting a copy of your DD214.

Many times, if in stock, Bud's is a very good option, especially if you qualify for the 'Qualified Professional' discount.

A good 'Real Time' search option, for guns AND ammo, is Search For Guns, Ammo, and Accessories for Sale Online - GunWatcher.com

With gun watcher, you can instantly compare prices and shipping.

I've found that after adding Shipping and FFL transfer fees, Many times, I can get just as good a deal at my LGS.

Also... If you show a good deal to your LGS, they may match it. ;)

Great info so far guys. Really appreciate it. I may qualify for some of the above discounts since I'm a Wildland Firefighter and Wilderness First Responder. Didn't know that.

Rob. I live in Texas also, if I buy a gun online from out of state will my LGS charge sales tax. I know they will charge a transfer fee. What is the average transfer fee $25.00? IDK thanks

I actually have an FFL about 5 min from me that only charges a flat $20 transfer. I don't actually use my LGS as the FFL if I buy online, as they have a higher transfer fee.

When I've purchased from Out of State, I was not charged a tax from my FFL. If your LGS has a website, they probably have a page listing their Transfer Fees. If they don't, just ask. If they ask 'why', show them the (better) online price and ask if they can match the 'out the door' price (if their price + tax can match the online price + FFL fee). If their asking price is higher, they may make you a deal, in order to make a sale.

My stategy is to find the best price I can online and then give my LGS a chance to match it. Usually he will match the online price.

Thanks for the replys. It's really a hassel buying firearms these days. All my LGS's and Sporting Goods stores are packed and selection is limited. Gun shows are also crowded and I feel rushed everytime I go. I will try to get my LGS to match the price. Ain't like the good 'ole days in my opinion. Tks guys.

There is nothing for your LGS to charge sales tax on. The purchase of the gun has already taken place, the gun shop or FFL is charging you a fee basically to handle all the paperwork. When ordering online, most of the bigger places have a zip code search where you can find an FFL close to you. I'm between Houston and Austin, and I've got 5 FFLs within 10 miles, none of them gun shops. Its seems the gun stores charge a little more than the individual FFLs, $25-35. My guy charges a 20 dollar bill.

I've bought from both Buds and Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore. Was pleased with both and would gladly buy again. The only down side is the lack of instant gratification.

Purchased from sportsmans today. $309 shipped + $30 at my FFL. Not too bad! Thanks guys!

Sportsman was really great when I ordered my shield. Fast shipping, it was all good. FFL I chose was alright, friend of a family member etc. Not stellar, but fine. They asked how much I paid for it and were amazed as they wouldn't even be able to come close to that at the time (a little over a year ago).

My wife decided to get me a 10/22 for Xmas and buds had the one I wanted in stock. She has never bought a gun, especially not one online, so she called the same FFL and they were like if we beat it? Just buy it from us? In the end I have my Xmas present but they were kind of a hassle and actually pretty sexist towards my wife.

We shall see hat happens next time I need/want a gun
