I just started reloading and I am looking for a good place to buy small pistol primers at a resonable price. Kind of shocked at the prices and availability

In my area in Wisconsin, everyone is out. Last month at Sportsman's warehouse I was lucky to buy a few boxes. They had just brought out a few boxes minutes earlier. Good luck!

about the only way you are going to get primers right now is to do some calling around and hope to find a store that has some. If you do find some at a reasonable price, don't delay.

Do you have "Buy Mart" in that area?

The ones here are trickling out a brick at a time to various stores.

I heard from a friend that went to the Tulsa show on the 4th that primers were selling for 75.00 and I guess they sold some. I havent gone in a few years but that to high.

I checked Graf and Jerrys and both were out and didnt know when they would get more. Look at GB $55 a 1000 BS will slow down for a while

Thanks everyone...stumbled on a brick of small pistol CCI primers at a local pawn /gun shop. The owner was shocked that I found them. He asked me where I found them. He said he could have sold them numerous times. They were behind some cast bullets, only paid $27.00 for 1000, also found a solo pack of Remington primers with 100 laying on top of them. I thinking someone may have stashed them to come back later and never picked them up.

Good luck! When I started looking for primers again shortly before the election, they were $16/1000. Now I'm hearing of prices as high as $45/1000!

The guy at my gunshop said that they got in an order of 130,000 last week, ans sold out in four days!

In short, I think it's going to be catch as catch can for a while yet, until the manufacturers catch up or the hoarding phenomenon has run its course.

Gilbert's Gun Shop in Frankfort, KY had CCI Sm Pistol primers 10 days ago,I bought 1000 for around $37.00.
Good luck

I called Powder Valley and ordered 10000 small and 5000 large pistol primers, Cost $24 per 1000 and no idea when they may be in. I'm lucky I live close enough that its cheaper to go get them than to pay the HAZMAT shipping fee.

I applaud the stores that limit the number of primers a person can buy at one time in an effort to try and halt the hoarding that is in turn, driving the prices up. Supply and demand - it really works. By the way, with tax, large and small pistol primers, when available, or going for around $37.00/thousand here in Austin, TX.

Best of luck,

Dave

I just spoke to my brother in Dallas, and he said there was a guy at a gun show there this past weekend with small pistol primers, $75.00(!)/1000.

Wonder if he still has them? I think I'd rebuild primers with matchheads before I'd pay $75.00 for a thousand primers, but it may come to that.

Check this out!

It has already started...

Ammunition Accountability Legislation

Remember how Obama said that he wasn't going to take your guns? Well, it seems that his allies in the anti-gun world have no problem with taking your ammo!

The bill that is being pushed in 18 states (including Illinois and Indiana) requires all ammunition to be encoded by the manufacture a data base of all amm unition sales. So they will know how much you buy and what calibers.
Nobody can sell any ammunition after June 30, 2009 unless the ammunition is coded.

Any privately held uncoded ammunition must be destroyed by July 1, 2011. (Including hand loaded ammo.) They will also charge a .05 cent tax on every round so every box of ammo you buy will go up at least $2.50 or more!

If they can deprive you of ammo they do not need to take your gun!

This legislation is currently pending in 18 states: Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington.

Send to your friends in these states AND fight to dissolve this BILL!!

Just looked on Gunbroker and there are a bunch of auctions for 5000 small pistol primers (winchester and federal) that are bid up to $350 and beyond. I saw one auction ending in 5 minutes that is at $380 for 5000. Insanity!! I guess some places just can't get them in stock and this is the only way people can get supplies. Glad I stocked up and that I can still walk in any shop in my area and grab 1000 for $30.

So what are we gonna have ammo cops knocking on our door trying to take what we already have. Fat chance of that. There will be some very rude receptions all bet

I was bidding on 2000 Winchester small pistol primers on Gunbroker the bidding ended at $200.00 plus $16.00 shipping. I was not the high bidder.
