Hi,

I am looking at replacing the sights on my shield. What are the best sights? How do the XS big dots compare?

Thanks

I just bought a set of Warren Tactical night sights. Green dot on front surrounded by white cirle, rear is plain which is what I wanted. On the way from midway usa. I have the big dot sight on my full size. Like it for quick shots. Not real good for me on 25 yard precision shots if you will. Wanted to try something different. I like hiviz but on a carry gun just not sure plus when I go out at night I like having a night sight.

Best it kind of a relative term with all the options out there.Whats best for you may not be whats best for me. With that being said I just got the AmeriGlow I dot sights and hope to get then mounted this week.

So I see If thats whats best for me :)

I went with a set of Ameriglo Pro-i-Dots which are somewhat like the Big Dots but more practical.
I bought orange with a u shaped rear for my Shield and Green/Yellow with square notch rear for my Glock. After having both I mych prefer the green/yellow which are much easier for MY eyes to pick up. Sorry for all the pics but I hope this helps.

As has been said, best is real subjective. There are a lot of good sights out there, it sort of depends on what works for you.

Personally, I'm a fan of the Trijicon HD sights and have them on both my Shield and Pro Series.

I had Truglo TFO sights installed on my Shield 9mm and I subjectively proclaim I think they were the right choice for me!

I've been torn on sights for a while now but I need to make a decision. I thought I wanted Heinie straight eight night sights, but I just saw that the rear sight isn't tritium? Are there any sights where the front and rear of a "straight eight" style sight will both glow in the dark?

I was thinking of getting the Truglo TFX sites, but I'm puzzled by their "one size fits all" for almost the entire MP lineup. I'm concerned that it would overhang on my Shield.

Anyone have experience with these sites and fitment?

TIA,

Ed

I had the XS Big Dot (small dot is also available) installed on my Shield. I like "dot the i" sights the best. That is me personally. Sight is easy to find night or day with my old eyes. Rear sight post is not Tritium, but that does not bother me.
The Dot is designed to cover the target. Combat accuracy but my groups are not that much larger, if any, at 15 yards and less compared to normal 3 dot sights.
The big Dot is too tall to fit into my cheap Fobus holster. Also,if you have a tight custom holster, the Big Dot may not work.

I saw pics of Trijicon HD on another thread and had to have a set on my Shield, perfect for me. I think the rear sight is a bit more open than factory and that makes a difference for my middle aged eyes. Excellent to shoot with and fitted easily with a few file strokes and an EPJ tool. First guy I showed them to immediately had me put a set on his full size. Figure the next set will go on my duty .45 mid-size.

At this point i am thinking about XS Sights Standard Dot Tritium Front - white stripe rear. After looking at everything I think they are great for a carry gun.

Thanks
Jack

I recently installed XS Big Dot Express sights on my Shield. I did like the stock sights on the Shield (as compared with stock sights on Glock), however, the Big Dot is a huge improvement. You can pickup the front sight very quickly. Highly recommended.

I ama HUGE fan of the 10-8 rear and Ameriglo ProGlo green front. Like a poorman's Trijicon HD with a better sight picture.
