Who makes the best spring kit for a 686-3? Looking at several that are available but wanted to ask the experts.

Thanks.

The trigger pull is heavy and not smooth and I will be using it for PPC matches.

AFTER MAKING SURE THE ACTION IS DUBURRED AND SMOOTH, I just install a Wolff strutted mainspring with about 1/2" strain screw, and a Wolff 14# rebound spring. I adjust it to get about 7# double action pull. I use only Federal primers, and I only use that modified revolver for competition.
I save the original springs and strain screw so I can return the revolver to stock for carry or any normal use where reliability is paramount.
Not being a PPC fanatic, I use normal IDPA range ammunition for all the different ranges in PPC. (Some use different loads at different ranges to get minimum recoil)

As per OKFC05, I would use the #2 Wolff mainspring and an 11 or 12# rebound. You will want to use #222 (now grade H) low strength Loctite on the screw. It will be adjustable, but stay where you put it. I use a #8-32 x 1/2" long socket set screw for the strain screw. I drill a small access hole in the grips so I can tweak it easily if needed.

Make sure your firing pin is at least .495 long, longer is maybe better. I prefer .500 to .505. Most factory ones are too short. One that is short takes a harder hammer fall to be reliable.

My way, my opinion. Doesn't mean anyone else is wrong, we all have our favorite way of doing things.

I have used both Wolff and Wilson Combat. Like 'em both fine. The kit made a huge difference on my model 69. Just make sure to use a heavy enough rebound spring to make sure the trigger resets properly.

I would first try just a Wolff standard power mainspring and see if that helps. Anything more can cause reliability issues. Also, messing with the other springs IME can produce very odd-feeling trigger pulls. You could just have a local gunsmith install the Wolff standard power mainspring and and do a light trigger job, just stoning the parts. You'd probably wind up with a somewhat lighter and much smoother pull.

Another user of Wolff springs. I use a reduced power mainspring and a 13 pound rebound spring. This gets me in the 6 pound or a little higher range in double action. I only use these guns for the range only and use only Federal primers.
