The wife always gets the new cars. I go with used Tahoes and Suburbans with lower miles, full service, drive them hard to around 150K, rinse and repeat. Deep sand on the beach, sketch trails in the mountains, snow and gravel, like not having to worry about dings and scratches. My favored 2002-2005 models with the 5.3 getting harder to find these days with under 100K on them.
The 2004 Suburban I'm driving now only has 92K on it, likely my last, only drive a fraction of the miles I used to.

Find one that catches your eye. Then go on line and go to Edmunds reviews and get several opinions. You can also learn of inherent problems and corrections. I have a 96 Ford f250 with the 7.3 powerstroke and only 84K miles so I can only say I like it. When it gets broke in I will comment on reliability and such. FYI, the only vehicles made 100% is the USA are the Ford F series and the Toyota Tacoma.
