Best use of an old tooth brush

The best use of an old toothbrush is to file it down and use it as a shank to protect your behind in prison. Your idea is a close second, though.

Try to get a work detail in the metal shop. It's not fun smuggling out odd pieces of metal in your orifices, but they make great shanks. Or so I've been told....

The old tacklebox I use for gun cleaning supplies always has two or three old toothbrushes in it. They are great for cleaning gunk out of corners or grooves.

Do yourself a big favor and get a Phillis Sonic Care electric toothbrush.

They cost $69 plus tax and shipping on Amazon. Cheap!

They’re easier on your teeth.

The Sonic Care does a better job.

You will spend a lot less time on your back with your mouth open while someone scrapes at you teeth for what seems like forever. Trust me on this one.

Absolutely! They are way better than manual toothbrushes and every time I'm in for a cleaning the hygienist comments on how well my teeth look since I started using one two years ago.

A simple used toothbrush with cut down bristles to stiffen the action a bit, gets the job done just fine. No need (IMO) to complicate matters, but to each his own. An electric toothbrush is a bit over the top unless of course you clean guns one after the other for a living- lol.

But hey, if that is what floats your boat - I say "go for it"!

Oral-B makes a nice little electric brush that is great on both your teeth or your guns. Under $10 at Wal Mart.

I have also found what is called a "Denture brush" to work well, a little bigger than a tooth brush, also cheap.

Ok, well this has to do with tooth brushes kind of. More of a public service announcement.

Years ago my wife was handling a burglary case. High end house in west Los Angeles. People had a lot of things stolen but were shocked and happy that their good older camera was not taken. Odd but most people use phones maybe they couldn't hock it ??

A couple weeks later people come in with some additional info. They had developed the film in the camera, and there were some partial photos of the crooks. Unfortunately the photos were only of the perps backside and involved THEIR toothbrushes. I will leave the rest to your imagination.

So if burglarized you might want to dispose of a few things that might have been tampered with.


Lots of really sick individuals out there. Although this and other activities often occur during burglaries, guess it's part of their thrill.

Was taught the use of tooth brushes in boot camp. Same with old t-shirts. Dental tools are good also to get into small places. I have both steel and plastic dental tools on my work bench.
