best way to conceal a 29

I'd keep it in the case before I'd try to hide it in my 'waste'! YUCK!

I'd probably try an inside the "waistband" holster, depending on the length of your barrel. And by that I mean the lenght of the barrel on your .44, not your personal equipment. LOL
My "waste band" is about a 2 foot stretch all along my back yard fence where my dog does her business, and it wouldn't be my choice of places to keep my .44 either

Are you talking about concealing it in the small of your back? I hope you're not planning on bending over or sitting down with it there.
Concealing a large frame revolver is more about dressing for it. A good belt holster or IWB holster along with a good belt would definitely help. Then some loose fitting clothes to cover it and it should be doable.
I know there are guys here that carry them on a regular basis so maybe they will be along with some recommendations.
I have two rigs from simply rugged, (one is for sale by the way) I carry a 329 and can cover it with a untucked T shirt that is 1 size too big , I imaging any pancake and stout belt would work, I haven't tried an IWB with a Nframe , hope this helps

44magsam, I've been trying to figure this out too as I just got a 3 inch 629. I've been thinking OWB highride. If you want to carry IWB I'd go with something that is still highride so you don't have to pull over the cylinder. Also I think the cylinder is too big for most of my pants to be comfortable riding IWB.

Galco makes several rigs for OWB 3-4" 44's, I carry them regularly. Get a good belt and OWB holster and 4 O'clock/just behind your hip carry the 44. It's not a tough go unless you are forced to wear tight clothing or are a smaller guy. Those situations are what S&W 38/357 snubs are made for.
Forget S.O.B. carry, it's really easy to lose your weapon to someone behind you that way.

Sparks VM II or a another quality IWB. These work great until for me; HOWEVER, once I get to the 6" barrel length, sitting while carrying becomes a task requiring consideration...

I am hoping next that you have either a 3" or 4" gun. If so I would carry in a Lobo Enhanced Pancake with Inner Hammer Shield, at the 4 O'Clock position with a GOOD Belt. This is doable, however you may need to relocate your billfold to another pocket besides your strong side back pocket. http://lobogunleather.com/
Next pick your shirts carefully. I have good luck with Fishing Shirts. I also have some Woolrich Descrete Carry shirts, etc. Look at shirts that can be worn untucked that do not look out of place. Make sure they are loose enough not to print, as well as long enough not to show leather.
I do not carry a 629, however I have a 4" 610, a 3" 625, as well as a 2.5" 310NG in my concealed carry rotation.
If you have a 6" or 8-3/8" gun, my suggestion would be to trade for something else that you can conceal easier like a 329 Night Guard. After that an X15 Shoulder Holster. You will need to get creative for a cover garment that is not out of place.
I have a Kaki short sleeve shirt that is a size too big. I wear it like a Jac Shirt, unbuttoned over a Tee once in a while. In cooler weather a long Nylon Windbreaker will do the trick without being overly hot.

I would suggest that you look again because you 329 is an N frame.
Personally, for any revolver larger than the K frame I would try and avoid IWB carry for concealment. Yeah, it can be done but IMO the diameter of the cylinder will cause it to be an uncomfortable method of carry. I would also urge you to NEVER consider small of the back carry, it's a method that poses such a high risk of back injury that some police agencies now ban carrying in this position.
That leaves either shoulder carry or a high riding OWB holster, both of which work well for an N frame provided you chose quality equipment. That means a quality GUN belt and a quality holster for OWB carry and a quality shoulder holster. It also means that you'll have to think about cover garments. Since it's getting into summer I'd suggest that you become that guy who's trademark is loudly patterned Hawaian shirts. Because the really are superb cover garments and are also light enough to be quite comfortable in the summer.
hey your right it is an Nframe and its on my belt has I type this, but I still haven't tried an IWB with it or any other Nframe although I sometimes carry a jframe that way , thanks

The "best" concealment holster for a 4" 629 is a pancake holster with belt slots (not quick snaps). I have an Alessi CQC which I use with a 4" 29-8 Mountain Gun, or a 3" 629-6. Grizzle is another fine maker, with reasonable prices and delivery time. With a fitted pancake holster, you get just the right amount of retention, and a comfortable distribution of weight on the belt. The downside is, you need a cover garment long enough to conceal the muzzle end.
I also have a Grizzle and VM2 IWB for a 686+. These are very concealable, but hold the gun a bit tight once you cinch your belt enough to bear the weight without sagging.
Both the IWB and pancake holsters are worn at 3:30 to 4:00. The butt is held high and tight. A square butt may print if you reach or bend. I put boot grips on my stubby revolvers, and never give a second thought about printing. Full-sized round grips are in between for concealment, but give you better control with a 4" (or longer) barrel.

I carried a 4" Model 329PD for a while in a Kramer belt scabbard. Worked well but required a large cover garment at all times. I can't imagine carrying a 4" Model 629. Makes my back hurt just thinking about it!

I hear that argument all the time.Loose a few pounds and the weight of a n frame is immaterial.I also use a Kramer belt scabbard when I carry my 4"629 Mountain Gun.By the way I need to loose about 30 lbs!!

It amuses me when people say this. The 4in model 629 weighs less then my TRP going by the unloaded weight of both of them. I have a serious back and leg injury thanks to OIF and have absolutely no problems IWBing it in a VMII. To be completely honest with a quality belt, I use either my A&G or the Beltman, I cannot even feel the weight and dont have to cinch it up tight either. Its just amazing how people complain about the weight but with quality equipment, key word being quality, it isnt an issue.
Also the weight of 6-300gr 44mag rounds is roughly the same if not less then 9-230gr 45acp +P rounds. Also IWBing a revolver, again in quality equipment, has less "felt"ish weight then a comparable pistol. Reason being the weight of the ammo in a revolver is obv at the waist line whereas the weight of the majority of ammo in a pistol is in the grip which is above the waist line. Granted this feeling will be minimal but still enough to be noted.
I do understand that some people go by the experience they have with a "designer"/dress belt and a low/mid quality holster and complain about the weight/rocking/sagging. For each firearm in my carry rotation my belt/holster/magazine,speedstrip,speedloader holder price is around $300. I understand that it is a chunk of change but seriously for carrying IWB/OWB what have you, quality equipment makes a huge difference.

Unless you want to buy a new wardrobe of pants and belts I would do what I do when concealing my 329, I bought a Kramer horsehide outside the waistband holster. Then look like you are going on vacation with Hawanian shirts or a vest or jacket when it gets colder.
Another factor is how long will you be carrying? I always found a shoulder holster and a 29 was not comfortable after several hours, I have not tried my 329 in one for a long time because the Kramer works fine for me.

In the past I CCW a M29 4". I used a good quality "Pancake" holster with a 1.75" thick leather belt at 4 O'clock position.
Another option is a 45 degree cross draw holster at 11 O'clock.
A good quality thick leather belt is a MUST!
I would suggest "N" magna grips with a Tyler Grip Adapter or cut down target style SMOOTH grips.

I carry a 5 inch 27-2 in a Triple K 420 "Secret Agent" holster. With a larger cut untucked polo, you can't even see it. A casual untucked sport shirt does well, too.

I carry a 624 in a Lobo IWB with a Crossbreed 1.5" gunbelt. It rides at about 3:30-4 position quite comofrtably.
Here is another vote for a Simply Rugged pancake OWB on the strong side. You can also put it weak side for crossdraw if you wish. They make good leather, and you can get snap straps that allow you to carry IWB if you wish. It is a bit uncomfortable, though. Go with an untucked shirt and install small grips and no one will no notice.
