 Well, being a newbie, what is the best and most accurate way to adjust your scope. On the range with a range finder or using a laser to put in the barrel and setting it up on your wall??

Not sure exactly what you are asking but is it sighting in your scope or are you adjusting for distance?

If you are needing to sight in your scope go to the range. Be able to get your gun to rest and shoot a "grouping." A grouping would be something around 3 to 5 shots within a half inch(my standards, yours might be different). Once you shoot your group just adjust your scope accordingly. Shoot another group to see where she is shooting.

I prefer taking the gun out and shooting it to get it sighted in. Don't just shoot once and adjust. Shoot, get a group(no matter where the grouping is at), adjust, get another grouping, etc until it's dialed in.

I hope that helps. Lasers and other items will only get you so close.

I'm not very sophisticated about these things. For rifles I pick out a clump of dirt against a bank at 50yds, aim and pull the trigger and watch to see where it hits. Then I take a guesstimate of how much to adjust to be on paper the next shot... then zero on paper from there.

If you have a bore sighter you can go to the range, insert the bore sighter (laser type) into the muzzle, put the laser on the target at the yardage you plan to shoot, and bring the cross hairs onto the laser dot. That will get you very close.

For a rifle ? There are many simple ways without any additional devices , including looking down the barrel on configurations allowing that . If you first zero at 25 yards by firing and adjusting , with standard calibers you will be close to the 100 yard 2 inch high setting preferred by many , and the 100 yard final sighting adjust will be easy to make. If you are putting a scope on a pistol or battle rifle , go lay down until that feeling goes away , exchange the scope for some ammo .

Thanks, and yes I did mean sighting in my scope. I think I will ask the range master to stand by my target down range and point where each bullet hits!! Do you think he would be willing to help........Just kidding

You can boresight the rifle and scope for windage in your backyard.

Pull the upper and bolt carrier group and sight thru the barrel at a 100 yard distant object with straight lines like where the neighbor's house wall meets the roof. Move the cross hairs of the sight to the same point.

You'll need to clamp the upper in a vice, of course.

This will get you on paper.

the easiest way ive found is put up a large piece of cardboard put your gun in a vise or in bags were it will sit on bullseye with out you touching it.. fire 1 shot or 5 how ever many you like to see where its shooting.. then without moving the gun turn the adjustments on the scope to move the crosshairs to where the bullets hit and guess what... your done.. you can shoot a few at the center again to check but usually as long as you didnt move the rifle while you were adjusting your there.. hope this helps
