What threw me is when I first read Muddy's post, my mind somehow added a coupla commas:

I thought Muddy was saying his mom was Bette Midler! Then I followed LVSteve's Google suggestion, went back, re-read the post, and understood it.

Can't believe what she said or on second thought yes I can. I live in SW Virginia about 60 miles from WVa. border. Great people there. My family has roots there. My paternal grandparents were born there in the 1890's. Hard working people. Many are of Scots-Irish heritage. Very independent folks. Would give you the shirt off their back if you ask.

Shame on her and others who think such thoughts!
