I am having difficulties with seeing my sights because of aging eyes. I still shoot well, but it takes longer to aquire a good sight picture. Neither of my current pistols are optic ready. Any recommendations for improving my current sights. TIA
I also have over 50 eyes and a mild astigmatism and my factory sights on two of my three Shields were a little more difficult to see than I liked for my EDC self defence firearm so I am trying this.

Have them installed and absolutely love the sight picture VS the original factory sights. I'm going to my private gun club tomorrow to sight them in and see how well I like them.
XS sights take a lot of beating when it comes to quick acquisition, but the high precision types whine that they are not fine enough when shooting groups at the range.
I installed TruGlo Tritium Pro Night Sights on my Shield 9 1.0 10 years ago. They are a definite improvement over the white dot irons that came on my pistol. No apparent loss of brightness yet and acquiring an accurate sight picture is easier and faster. This pistol has seen significant carry time as one of three in my carry rotation and shoots so well that it's not going anywhere. "If fit ain't broke, don't fix it!" You can find them online much cheaper than the MSRP listed on the link.
Both my 9mm Shield and my 45 Shield and 4 of my M&Ps wear Trijicon HD sights with the orange ring front sight. With my 67 year old eyesight, I found I had trouble seeing the front sights with the yellow ring in bright sun light. The larger dot front sight really catches my eye and the larger U shaped notch in the rear sight allows more light around the front sight for quicker acquisition. I have never found significant loss of precision with the larger front dot/ rear notch.
I’m partial to the Ameriglo set now called “Trooper”, replaced the “Agent” set used on the M model contract Glocks.
I like a bright yellow ring for my vision, post cataract I don’t use my Rx glasses for shooting up to 15 yards-the front sight really pops for me.
