Better than a bear thread

Why……………..
Never mind. Refer back to BAM-BAM’s post.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, my first defense against running into dangerous animals is simply staying away from where they roam and enjoying one of the countless other fine vacation destinations in which I needn't worry about being charged, gored, mauled, or eaten by various wildlife.
However, if I were going to go hiking in the Wilderness where large dangerous animals roam, then I would most likely pack my Mossberg 590 Shockwave loaded with Brenneke Black Magic Magnum Slugs.

Folks often argue that it's too heavy, too difficult to control, or otherwise too slow to deploy, but I beg to differ. It's actually quite light at 6lbs, only just a bit heavier than some of the long-barreled monster magnum revolvers, yet easier to control because it has two points of contact instead of just one, and with a proper sling I think it could be readied quite quickly.

Otherwise, I'd carry the next best thing that I've got, my H&K USP45 Elite loaded with Buffalo Buffalo 230gr .45 Super.

Power roughly on par with 10mm Auto, but with a heavier, larger diameter bullet.

went to Boy Scout camp with my son in Colorado... they said you will probably see a bear.. don't run, make noise they will run away.. you will not see a mountain lion, but one will see you.. don't worry... but if you see a moose get a big tree or ten between them and you quickly.. more people are attacked by moose then by bear & lions combined... they are the ones to be scared of..

One of the first pieces of advice I was given when I was in Alaska !!!!!!!

I watched the footage. It seemed to me that a reasonable person would sneak off in a different direction before the moose detected them, instead of standing there filming like an idiot.

Objects in phone camera are closer than they appear. :D

Bag o' hammers dumb.
Same mindset as 'influencers' that fall off cliffs taking selfies.

Jimmy's first line of defense against a Moose attack:
1. throw a used depends adult diaper
2. run screaming like a little girl
3. rip off my clothes and show the moose what he is chasing
4. pray while I shake salt and pepper over my body where the later arriving bear will think me tastey for an old man.
