BG 2.0 (self-induced) Problem

It would be very interesting if a highly experienced armorer or gunsmith could post an explanation of the mechanics, part(s), and mechanism of actually what happened to cause this unusual condition.

The exploded view is of a similar gun, but not the BG2.0 ... is a bit different
I have tried to explain in this video (i hope it works).
I may find i could have done it better/easier than i did, but without really knowing how all the stuff functions in this gun i'm ok with my "fix"

Surely that is the sear. If the trigger would not reset, then I assume that you had rotated the ejector down during disassembly. That would need to be returned to its original position, which I believe happens when you insert the magazine if it works the same as an M&P fullsize.

You're correct about the ejector. It must be lowered to reinstall the slide, and inserting a mag will raise it back. However, unless the striker safety plunger is down by proper placement of the slide, the trigger will do nothing to the sear. The sear will not move from that raised position, and thus it does block the forward movement of the slide, as dbikers found out.

It's either that, or the FCG doesn't get "cocked" and the trigger has no connection to the sear. I'm not sure which, but i do know if you remove the slide and pull the trigger you can observe that pulling the trigger has no result at the sear.

What I'm having a hard time wrapping my arms around is what difference could the recoil spring have possibly made in that situation. It's up front. Unless with it in, the slide simply cannot go back far enough to catch that 'hook.' OK. I guess that makes sense now that I've said it out loud. I still think it's a ****** design if that's what happened.

EDIT: I resent the fact that my word was NOT profanity at ALL and was masked anyway. For that reason, I am not fixing it.

Hello all,
I recently ( a week ago) purchased a BG 2.0 (I love this gun). BUT, i have unwittingly induced a problem with it and for the life of me, i can't figure it out!

OK, here goes.....
I had the gun field-stripped (have done this more than a few times and have re-assembled without issue).
This time, i didn't put the barrel or recoil spring in (yes, i am a dumb*****). I slid the slide (albeit slowly) back and now it appears that the slide is hung up (i think on the striker?).

Can anyone help a dumb-dumb out with getting the slide back off?

Grill-away....

TIA for any helpful response

John

Did you use the lever, or pull the trigger for disassembly?

Could the slide move anywhere or was it stuck in a position?

Just sacrificed mine for science.

It's the same as other striker fires, if you want to edit the solution into your original post to help anyone that may find this thread looking for help.

Push slide forward and hold in the position it would usually rest with slide down and the barrel and spring in place, ensure take down lever is swung down, pull trigger, and the slide comes right off the front like normal.

I locked the slide back and then rotated the takedown lever up. Then I pulled the slide back so it would shut. Once the slide was closed I pulled the trigger and slide the slide off..
When I reassembled I didn’t insert the barrel or the recoil spring.
I slide the slide all the way back (heard a click when the striker hook pushed the spring-loaded sear down). When I slid the slide toward closed (battery) position the hook was hung on the sear (is spring-loaded so it popped back up when I slide the slide all the way open).
The slide would only go forward to about 3/8” open (wouldn’t go anywhere near closed/battery position). Squeezing the trigger did nothing (the trigger wasn’t and wouldn’t “reset”). I played with it for an hour before giving up and resigning to my “resolution”.

Takedown lever down? Would not have guessed that.

ETA:

Of course, takedown lever, not the sear release I was thinking of for a day or so. Oops.:o

I, for one, was simply dazzled the op got the rear sight, and end plate, off, while the slide was on the gun. I have a hard enough time, removing/moving the sights, with the slide off the gun.

hahahah hmc….necessity is the mother of invention…
Tried it in a vice…that’s a big no-go…
Placed a towel down ON the top of the vice and had a “helper” hold it whilst I drifted out the rear sight…the end cap literally fell out.

Shot a box of shells thru it today…I really like this gun!!!
