I really want a pocket .380. But, I've read about so many issues with the BG380 regarding the take down pin falling out and also some broken triggers that I'm not sure who or what to believe. I called S&W today to ask about any changes that have been made since the EAA serial numbers. I was told that the issue with the pins has been resolved, but they hadn't heard of any trigger problems. Really? Do they read this forum? They did volunteer that there had also been an issue with the laser on/off switch and that they are working on it.

Today I looked at a BG380 with a serial #EAFxxxx, produced 11/2010. The laser worked fine. So I'm wondering if this would be a safe bet to buy. After a really bad experience with a Sig P238, I can't handle getting another gun with issues. Between two trips back to Sig, ammo and selling it at a loss, the Sig cost me $150 for nothing!

I'm asking those of you who have made a recent serial # purchase of a BG380 if you've had any issues. ANY AT ALL?

Thanks for any help.

I have an EAF1XXX with a 11/23/2010 born on date. I ran 150 rounds through it. 1 Fail to eject and 4 Fail to loads. Customer service said to give it 100 more rounds if it doesn't break in then send it back. Laser works fine, accurate with both iron sights and laser.

That's the same thing Sig said to me. After 250 rounds at a cost of $85 it went back....twice! It sounds like their just stalling. I guess I'll have to wait or just keep searching for a reliable .380. Thanks for the reply.

I can see custom match guns having a break in period, but for my own use there shouldn't have to be a break in period. Let the factory break in a gun before delivery. And that's all I'm going to say about that.

^^^^^^^^^^DITTO^^^^^^^^^^

I get very annoyed when I hear of a company saying this. I got screwed by Sig and I won't let it happen again. I've owned S&W products for many years, and it's disappointing to hear of them doing this. I hate to say it, but I'm "stuck" carrying my Glock 26, which doesn't have a "break in period" and has been 100% since round #1.

Just like a woman; If it looks good and it feels good give her a try, if it doesn't work right after a short while, dump em. Flame suit on in case the female species is reading. I'm sure the same formula works by interchanging the sex component.

I purchased two that were EAA series. Both had the take down lever problem. I sent them to S&W and they returned with EAB series frames. They both now function flawlessly. Even with the first series frame there have been no failures to feed, fire or eject. My wife and I are happy with them now. The only thing that could be improved is the long, heavy trigger pull.

Got one of thenew ones on 11/11/10 400 rounds no problems
Get one now, they are dirt cheap, in my town $330.
S&W is in trouble, and who knows they can be collectors item one day.
S&W is closing plant in NH, 200 employees

The plant being closed is the Thompson Center operation. They are moving the operation to the Springfield plant. It is a cost saving move nothing more. That is the way to stay in business and make a profit.

Smith replaced my EAA6xxx with lock pin problems with an EAB3xxx. Several hundred rounds later-no problems. Worked flawlessly. I'm now comfortable relying on it to save my life when necessary.:D

I had the EAA sent it back got a new updated frame with a EAB.
I have fired about 500 rounds in it and haven't had a problem with it at all. no jams, nothing.

I carry all the time now

Where the heck do you live? They're still $439 here in San Antonio.

Thanks for the replies. It's good to hear they're getting better. There's still a few war stories out there, even with the latest serial numbers. Google search turned up a bunch of broken triggers too, but nobody here has mentioned that.

I agree totally! I also find it absurd that one has to do a field "fix" or repair for the intermittent laser buttons.I have a EAEXXXX w/o even test firing it the laser right side is an issue not even activating most of the time!
