Bill, I know those guns. LGS asked me about them before. They are about $100+ too high on their asking price, for what's there, I think. Offer a grand for all three and you might own them, if you think they are keeping you awake at night ! Good Luck, Ed.

I don't know about the market in AZ and Southern California, but have bought 98% - 100% Safety Hammerless revolvers for $350 and less on national auction house auctions. An all brown 2" Safety denotes zero percent original finish, so half of what they are asking would seem to be top dollar.

I think Ed has nailed the full retail value of these guns. Nahas & Supica do a pretty good job of valuing S&Ws, and a Fair condition 32 Safety is $150, plus double or triple the value for a factory 2". A standard barrel length 32 Safety in Fine condition is stated at $285. That would mean that $1000 is full retail value and I bet the LGS would have a hard time with that price, plus would quickly dismiss anything less. Afterall, they have been sitting in the shop for a long time already. Sleep well!

It seems that there is no consensus of how many 32 Safety 2" guns were ever built?

Even in the condition I visualize from your description, it would be worth in the $400+ range, but $699 is out of line.

I love the whole idea of "bicycle guns," which were, of course, designed to whale away* at rabid dogs that gave chase while riding your bicycle.

Can you imagine the outrage today?

The thought that something like that was once marketed and acceptable to society, but would be "socially unacceptable" now serves to remind us of how ridiculous we have become as a society.

Too bad they don't make a "politician gun" so one could whale away* at one of them if they chased you for a donation.



*I initially thought it was "wail away," and although the "Urban Dictionary" uses that spelling, I decided to go with the more traditional spelling from Dictionary dot com, which means "to attack or do something vigorously and persistently." That certainly fits the purpose of a "bicycle gun."

"Wail" on the other hand means to express sorrow audibly.

I am glad I looked up the proper spelling for that usage.

About pricing ... BBGV is on point with these .32 Safety Hammerless but a 2" should be 3 to 4 times standard values of same issue, same condition standard model "ONLY IF" it verified and letters as a factory 2".
