Birthday gun?

In 1944, the S&W factory was still devoted to wartime production. But, you're in luck: the K-frame was THE gun they were making. You're looking for a .38 Hand Ejector "Victory Model" with a SN of at least V-500,000 to about V-700,000. (SNs didn't always ship out in sequential order, so the closer to the mid-stream #V-600,000 the better to assure it will letter as being shipped in '44.) At that point in time, the 4" .38 Special and the 5" .38S&W (aka, .38-200) were the norm.

Good hunting!

Steve
