According to Alex Jones' "Infowars" and The Examiner, gun sales on black Friday hit a new record high. The sales volume was apparently high enough to shut down the FBI Instant Background Check system - twice!

Me - I just stayed home and raked leaves.

I was on my way home this past Sunday and stopped at Richfield Wi. Cabalas store. You could not see the gun counter for the people. The Fire Arm Check out lane has 4-5 people working these lanes and there were 5-6 people in each line. There were clerks restocking the ammo shelves. I just wanted some Hornady Critical Defense ammo. My wife got my Christmas present. A Remington 1858 44 cal. black powder pistol.

I was part of the crowd. I bought a long gun in NC and they couldn't use my SC CWP so they had to call it in. Took about 15 minutes for the call to go through.

Realistically, I wonder how effective the background check is. I wonder how many legitimate turn-downs they get by a percentage of all checks? How many convicted felons, etc., are actually going to try to go through the process?

My first reaction to the 15-20 minute wait was, "well, that isn't so bad," but on reflection, why should a law abiding citizen have to put up with the mess?

I am not a 2nd Amendment absolutist, and I have always considered myself to be a conservative on these issues, but a reasonable conservative.

I find myself being driven further and further toward the lunatic fringe.

Not to get political. :(

I just stayed home. I finally got a mulching mower so I gave my leaf rake to my across the street neighbor. ;)

I did break out the chainsaw and cut up some fire wood though just to keep from being a total lout. :D

I'm sure we've all seen the guys standing there at gun shows or LGS while his girlfriend/wife answers all the questions for the forms. I was browsing at a table in one gun show where there were three different couples standing there doing the same thing. Momma was buying but everybody knew the gun was for him. In two cases, the guy pulled cash out of his pocket and gave it to her for the gun.

I find myself being driven further and further toward the lunatic fringe.

Come to the dark side, Luke. We have cookies.:D

If the process keeps convicted felons, etc. from trying to go through the process, it is working by definition.

Best,

Last minute SHOPPING means YOU WAIT IN LINES.

Buy ALL YEAR LONG, at your own pace.

Online sales, FFL to FFL, will work just fine.

Gun Shows are interesting to pass the time.

Local gun shops and pawn shops can be a diversion for your shopping.

Check online for ESTATE AUCTIONS near you, usually they have photos if firearms are involved.

Visiting various Shooting Competitions may reveal some supprise buys.

Good Hunting and Shopping Guys and Gals.
