Is being pushed hard, it seems to me. Radio and TV. It is a long way off. Another sign of a weak economy?

Black Friday is the retailers Super Bowl, World Series and NBA Finals rolled into one. Busiest shopping day of the year. It was the only day where everybody worked. No exceptions. They push it hard every year because, good economy or no, it can make or break you.

"Black Friday" what a joke. I buy what I want/need when I need it. Now in all fairness I should admit that my needs/wants are simple. If I had anyone else to take care of $ wise I might feel differently. All I can suggest to anyone, do what you need to do to take care of yourselves and family.

while the economy is not good, they have been pushing black friday for years. now its also cyber monday, green monday, small business saturday etc.

Taking a casual look around at the general public, I don't see many who are not getting enough groceries.

The story I am getting is big-ticket sales have slowed greatly while everyday item purchases have increased. I don't remember any good BF sales since before Covid.

The business of business is business. As a former retailer my objective was to get consumers in my door, online and on the phone by any ethical means necessary. The calendar had little to do with it.

The economy around here in OKC seems to be booming. No one can get enough good help to hire, and many companies are too busy to even return phone calls. My daughter was just in a fender bender and her insurance company said to call a certain collision repair shop and they said it would be six weeks before they could even see her to give a damage estimate! I see enormous houses springing up and people don't seem to mind spending a lot of money. I don't know why you need a Black Friday sale, guns seem to be pretty cheap right now.
