Yep, this kit has the small covered pot inside.:)

Hey, don't hate on the High-Point.... had a few 9mm on the shooting table. The C9 burned them quick and efficiently; and, was in close reach.:)

When I got mine they had just switched from the aluminum to the plastic cup which I thought was sort of cheap, eventually I found an aluminum one.
Do you still have your Vit-l kit?

I had one just like it.

I still have the three utensils that hook together and go into a plastic sleeve, as well as a shirt with a few patches including a 1964 Jamboree.

I wasn't one for camping in the cold(some snow one night), nor one to experience the cooking of an older scout. He cooked about a half pound of bacon in a pan, never drained off the grease, and then immediately plunked some eggs into that inch of hot grease.
I was cub scout, a weblo, but had a short career as a boy scout.

Great days in scouting. Made it to Life rank. Worked my last summer at age sixteen on staff, Camp Cachalot, MA. $75.00 for an entire six week camping season. At the time, I figured with the hours I put in, it worked out to about six-cents per hour. I was assigned to the Field Sports section.

JWM, I also made it to Life. I discovered girls before working on my Eagle. :)

I think that the highlight of my time in Scouts was initiation into the Order of the Arrow. I felt that I earned every inch of that sash during a 24 hour period that was harder than any single day in Basic Combat Training.

I still have mine. I actually looked at it yesterday. It's missing the green, plastic cup - it was kinda small so I ditched it and started carrying a Sierra Cup. Until a couple years ago I regularly carried it on backpack trips. I got a lot of great use out of it over nearly 50 years, but found a lighter alternative.

I made it to Eagle Scout, barely.

Plus 2 on the Life Scout, discovered girls ... no Eagle. Also on the Order of the Arrow. We had to sleep out alone, no tent, no big deal except for the torrential rain. We were assigned a designated spot. I dragged my sleeping bag to under a handy picnic table, which provided a bit of shelter. Next morning, we were given an egg, a paper cup full of milk, and two matches. After gathering soaking wet kindling and firewood, watching my compatriots try to start a fire and fail (this merited one of three allowable notches on our hand carved arrow), using up my first match, I drank the milk and used the paper cup, some shavings provided by my official knife, and last match to get a fire going :) This was frowned upon, but I thought I was using simply using my head in dire circumstances. We weren't allowed to speak for 24 hours. Still have my mess kit and BSA compass, although they are retired. Knife is MIA.

I hope you got a badge for the hair ! :D

Congrats on making Eagle !

Just 3 yeas ago I found my oldest sons Boy Scout knife. He made Eagle in the late 80s. It was in a box of miscellaneous loading stuff.

He cut himself good with the knife and threw the knife& sheath in the trash.

I recovered it and stuck it away and obviously forgot about it

I offered it back to him when I found it years back and he blushed a bit and said he should not have tossed the knife. He then said you have had it so long hang onto it. I use it regular in the heating season. I use it to cut open bags of pellets for the stove.:D

Boy Scouts............

One of my memories was removing my show laces from my shoes, in order to make a leash, for my new friend...............

a Horny Toad.

Ah, the good old days.
