Blazer ammo

A while back I bought an assortment of .357 ammo from an estate sale. All factory ammo, some full boxes, some with a few shells missing.
I was looking at one of the boxes of Blazer, .357, 158 grn, JHP.
Among the usual warnings on the back of the box it says, "Do not use in firearms with ported barrels or ported recoil compensators".
Can some one tell me WHY they shouldn't be used in those type barrels? Except of course because the manufacturer says not to.

The warning exist because they are using plated rather than jacketed bullets.

The concern is that the ports will slice a minute fragment off the bullets side, which can cause injury to the shooter or those nearby.

I am not sure whether the warning is real.... or lawyer generated.

I had a PC Shield and happened to noticed my Blazer Brass was noted for non-ported use. There are other brands that do the same. It was explained to me thru their reps that it was due to thin plating used. And each manu had an ammo version or brand that was fine for ported.
I mostly ran ammo that wasnt labeled and couldnt say if the warning was something to be concerned with. And I bet there are plenty out there who dont know or dont care. But it would affect my future purchases.

A shooting buddy tried lead and plated bullets in an STI comp, and it eventually plugged it. He decided to clean after every use unless using jacketed bullets. YMMV
As an RO, I have been hit by lots of little **** coming out of comps, in addition to backsplatter from steel targets.

Yep, it is possible for the edges of ports or compensator plates to strip the plating from the bullet.

Thanks, I'm glad I asked.
I don't have any guns w compensators so it really was a curiosity thing.
My first thought was that those bullets were way noisy.
