I have had two failures to go into battery with my M&P 9 full size pistol using Blazer 115 jacketed aluminum cased ammo. I am going to replace the recoil spring just in case but am wondering if others have had trouble with this occuring with that ammo. I recently started using this ammo because I can't find Winchester white box anymore.

I used the aluminum cased stuf "once", Had all kinds of trouble with it. I'll let my gun rot before i use it again. I have used the Blazer Brass a lot and have had very good luck with it.

I've used it once also, in .40, and didnt even finish the box. No cycling failures but accuracy was well beyond poor. If a barn was attacking I would have been defenseless.

I haven't had trouble with accuracy with the Blazer. Yesterday one other shooter and myself were the only two on our squad to knock down 6 small steel in only 7 shots at 40 yards in an IPSC match.

I've never used the aluminum stuff at all. But I have had zero problems with the brass cased ammo.

The aluminum case usally expands to fill the chamber. If the chamber is tight it will cause a problem when it goes to extract and slows down the process causing the jam. I have that issue with my Glock 20 and the Blazer aluminum ammo.

I've fired over 3,000 rounds of the aluminum cased Blazer in .45 ACP this year with no complaints about accuracy and zero malfunctions.

Just last weekend put about 300 rounds through my SA GI with no problems.

I will use their brass cased rounds. I have never had a problem with them. However, I will not touch the aluminum cased ones again.

BigRich315,
"If a barn was attacking I would have been defenseless." That is a classic!

My Gunsmith

My gunsmith gave me a little advice after replacing my extractor twice in two months and said NOT to fire aluminum or steel cased ammo in my pistol again unless I really needed an excuse to come visit him for my 3rd replacement in 3 months.

I have fired many thousands, probably in excess of 10K, through my Sig, Glock, HP and some in a 39. Never had a problem.

I've have to join the ranks of those that have shot the aluminum cased Blazers without any problems, and this was done with 3 different calibers... 9mm from a S&W 2nd gen 459, .40 S&W in a Glock 22, and .45 acp in my '70 Series Colt Gold Cup.

In the semi auto's I actually prefer it, that way the staunch reloader in me doesn't have to fret about chasing brass.

Had problems with the aluminum hull 357 stuff splitting lengthwise in my 686. Hard to eject too.

My experience with aluminum Blazer has been so good that I would recommend it over any other target grade ammo. This is based on more than 25,000 rounds of 9mm or .40SW Blazer aluminum, I can't speak to any other calibers.

I have done several side-by-side comparions with WWB over the past few years in new guns that I acquired. In every case, the Blazer shot somewhat smaller groups off a bench rest and always shot cleaner.

The current ammo shortage has required me to buy some other brands, and similar side-by-side comparisons have led me to the same conclusion. As a sidebar, other brands seem to be hotter with more recoil, which is not what I need in the kind of shooting that I do.

Up until the current ammo shortage, Blazer was always cheaper to buy than any other ammo in the target/practice class. I have never had a failure to fire or a case failure of any kind with Blazer aluminum. In all the rounds that I have shot, I never had any kind of ammo-related extraction problem in several different Glocks or most recently M&Ps. I have had extraction problems with two different M&Ps, but those were issues with the guns that were corrected by S&W.

So, my experience has been that Blazer aluminum is clean, accurate, cheap and reliable. I have no reason to even try anything else.

I have a M&P9 that I have fired 4400 rounds thru with no failures of any kind. Most of what has been fired in it has been Blazer aluminum. I have found the Blazer ammo to reliable and accurate.

I agree, at least for 9mm Blazer aluminum.
