Blinking neighbors cats

If animal control won't respond, buy a lynx. Let it roam the neighborhood. It's a cat, right? One of two things will happen. First, the lynx will eat the offending cats. Problem solved. Or, your neighbors will call animal control and actually get someone to respond to a lynx. When they come to pick it up, make sure they get ALL the neighborhood cats.

I like cats. I have two. They spend 99.99% of their time indoors. Occasionally one will slip outside when no one is looking, but they quickly come back inside. I have no wish to harm a cat. However, one or more of the un-neutered neighborhood toms is urinating underneath my bedroom window. It makes it impossible to open the window on a nice day, as the whole house quickly begins to smell like cat urine. I have no idea which cat it is, or to whom any of the cats belong. An electric fence charger sounds like a good idea.

Good morning, Just got off the phone with animal control. they offered I should go rent a trap, bait it,then they would be so kind as to pick it up. Then explained to me that they were "Free roaming animals" I held my cool and explained that they were on private property and causing damage and health issues. I'm just wasting my time talking to them. Then comes the next offer to send notice,Yea Right!
I'd heavily document (with pictures) any damages done by the cats. Make sure you get pictures of the cats on your property, and even better in a trap, with pictures of their tags. I'd then take the neighbors to small claims court, over and over and over, ad infinitum until they keep their animals off of your property.

I wonder if you could get a "mechanic's lien" on the cats you trap, allowing you to retain possession of the cats until the neighbors paid for documented damages to your property... and their subsistence.

One thing you could do would be to trap the cats, remove their tags and then drop them off anonymously at a shelter in another county. You haven't actually harmed the animals, while at the same time imposing a burden on the malicious neighbors in order to look for and retrieve their cats. And if they don't get them, county x will solve your problem for you. If they ask you what happened to the cats, lie to them. You can't lie to the cops. You can lie to an arrogant a-hat who won't control his livestock all day, every day and twice on sundays. If they call the cops, tell the cops the truth. Turning in nuisance animals at animal control is almost certainly NOT a crime. I doubt there's any requirement to turn them in in YOUR town or county either. If the negligent owners want to take actions against you, they have to admit that they're in violation themselves. Even if you leave the tags on, the owners still have to drive to another county to pick up the animals. At some point, being dicks to you will be more trouble than it's worth.

We have 3 indoor cats. They wouldn't be outdoor cats, between the Bobcats, Great-horned Owls, Coyotes, Cougars, Golden Eagles, Rattlesnakes, for long.

I had two neighbors with outdoor cats, one brought a Mojave rattlesnake live into their home. The other bought a live Diamondback rattler, into the house.

Some neighbors say they need Barn cats. Heck I have a Barn Owl, and no Pack rats.

My Mother used to go nuts when the neighbor dog used to poop in her yard. I tried to explain to her the many wild animals that do the same thing in her yard when she's in dreamland. She wouldn't have any part of that logic. So, she called the police on her neighbor. This neighbor would fix any problem she had for free. He was an old foogie's best friend. Well, that ended. She and I had an atomic toe-to-toe confrontation over that idiotic move. I marched over to his house and apologized profusely. My Mother would never admit the stupidity of her move. Oh, from then on she had to hire someone to fix her household problems. Just live and let live.

I have stray cats in my neighborhood, along with the possums and raccoons. They don't bother me, and I don't bother them. The only thing I don't like is stepping on possum crap. Now that stuff really stinks.

In most of the cases of which I'm aware, the people owning the offending animals have never done a thing for the people upon whom they're inflicting their cats.

When people do you favors, you cut them reasonable slack. When they've never done a thing for you, and arrogantly impose themselves (and their livestock) on you, you owe them NOTHING but the back of your hand.

If I wanted cats, I'd buy cats. I don't want YOUR cats.

Back when it was less of a PC world than it is now, we used to "deal with" stray cats in our own way. These were not someone's pet cats, but full out an out strays or ferals that were breeding like crazy in our rural neighborhoods. We had the blessings of the local cops, because they were getting sick of calls about people whacking them with their cars. An old Crosman pellet gun went a long way.

Thus subjecting the cat - and who knows what other animals - to an excruciating and protracted death. And you think that's an intelligent and reasonable response.

tells me all I need to know about you.

Pets are what people take care of and don't turn loose to roam .
I keep my dogs fenced in the back yard so they don't get hit by a car.
If people don't want anything happening to their (pet) cat they ought to keep it in their own yard!
And when a vermin cat decides to use my porch as his litter box by spraying the cedar shingles on the front of my house!!!!!!
I just set a leg hold trap by the garbage cans that are hiden by a fence.
No one even notices when they hear a 22short go off when I take the garbage out

Do you consider them telling him to his face that they REFUSED to keep their cats off of his property "intelligent and reasonable"?

Explain why he should care more about THEIR cats than they do.

I sure would'nt.

Kind of interesting that you have no criticism for the neighbors who told him to his face that their animals could use his property as a toilet whether he liked it or not.

Easy people!I didn't want an all out war over this, with my neighbors or you guys. let's be shure of one thing,I could have done a lot of nasty things but I dont and wont harm ones pet. Even if they are idiots. I'm thinking of things to deter but not harm and these suggestions would be welcome.

Vandalism, public nuisance, violations of health codes, etc. ARE crimes. The neighbors didn't care. I'm fascinated by malignant narcissists who think that others exist to cater to their whims and that all property is THEIR property.

He ended up shooting one of the cats with a 6' blowgun instead. After that, they kept them inside.

Easy people!I didn't ask for a war with you guys over this thread.rest assured I won't harm anybodys cat.I don't hate them, its their idiot owners who tick me and I don't have time for this. I need a good solution without resorting to some suggestions.

These are my steps for dealing with annoying toilet habits of neighborhood dogs and cats. Step one: occasionaly I sprinkle a can of cayenne pepper around the problem area. Step two: Animal control/talk to owner. Step three: Russian made bb machinegun, six shot burst, 600 rounds per minute!
