It's easy to block the numbers on my phone, the problem is the marketers have hundreds of numbers and they just use a different one every time I block. I've heard it's not even a real phone number, they have software that generates a phone number on your phone in your my own area code so it will look like a local call. I have my own business so I get a LOT of telemarketers so I may block a number and it could turn out to be a someone I know or a possible client wanting my services.

There should be a law against those calls! Oh! I think there is but no enforcement! The callers and sellers of phone service make money by stealing the phone system from consumers. I can’t believe that they cannot stop the calling at the providers end.

I receive a call about my electric service and switching to a cheaper one at least once a day. As others have stated, they change the number every time and even use my area code and exchange so i think its another cell caller in my area. Like Farmer17, I am self employed so I must answer every call or let them go to voicemail as I never know which one is a business call.

I have a friend that prepays for his cellphone annually and therefore pays for each incoming call. He gets really ticked when it turns out to be a scammer because he is paying for the call.

I no longer answer any calls I don't recognize - period! If it is legit - they will leave a message. One quick way of telling a robot call is it will stop ringing after 4 or 5 rings - just before your answering machine picks up. Robot call software has it programmed that way. It is just a waste of time blocking numbers - it is just part of life now.

I agree after trying everything else that this is probably the most practical solution at this time.

I use TracFone prepaid with a mid-range price smartphone which I bought separately. There is an app offered by TracFone which answers calls before ringing through to my phone. It prompts the caller to enter a two digit number. This is good for blocking automated calls, but will not stop a human crank caller. I would assume there would be a similar app for any smartphone on any carrier. Smartphones are cheap these days and are not that hard to learn how to use. It may be time to toss the flip phone and move to a cheap smart phone.

Are you asking about blocking numbers or blacklisting numbers?

Prefixing the number you are dialing with *67 will block your outgoing number.

If you want to blacklist a certain number such that it doesn't even ring your phone, go to your call history and find the number, then long-press on the number and a menu should pop up- one of the choices should be 'blacklist this number'. Different phones and different carriers may be ...well... different.

I agree with VPNAVY. My cell phone is now 14 years old, an LG flip phone. I have about 80 numbers saved to the phone, so when I receive a call from them I can see who it is. All other calls are ignored and allowed to go to voice mail, and if it is a legitimate call I will return the call right away.

My phone rings about 20 times per day. On a good day 2 of those are legitimate calls. All the rest are thieves trying to use my cellular service, my contract minutes, and my equipment for their purposes.

Listen to this guy!
NEVER answer unless you know who is calling. If it’s important they will leave a message.

I used to have an app I downloaded from google play that was very effective, it was called extreme call blocker and you can set it up many different ways. I had it set to block all calls other than in my contact list and also has a blacklist whitelist feature, about five dollars for the paid version. I had an Indian guy calling me everyday and was very annoying, set this up and he quit calling in about three days.

Attacking a foreigner's intelligence, animal husbandry habits, or parent's marital status has proven to stop these calls. Those syrupy sounding ladies are exceptionally offended when discussing work apparel or group social activities.

Most calls are during the day when my wife is at work. I'm retired.

i Phone 8 here, it has a do not disturb feature so if you're not on my contact list you don't ring and go to voice mail. I've noticed lately that the robo calls will leave a message but that's better than stopping what I'm doing to look at the phone. I'm getting 4-8/day.

I don't think blocking numbers does any good for robo calls, but it is handy.

The funniest is when they pick your own number to spoof! Have you ever got a spam call and the caller ID says it is you calling? Or a solicitation E-mail for Viagra or some other such product that you sent to yourself? I have, both of these, several times and especially E-mails!!!!

Have you put your phone numbers on the "National Do Not Call List"? DON'T!!!!!!!!!!! I never had a problem with solicitation calls, then I put all my numbers on "The List"! Since then I have had several a day!
