Bet your going to like it. I have owned several BLR's, and liked them all. I still have my early BLR in .358 Winchester, and I really can't think of a better close to medium big game rifle. The only issue I can think of is you don't get the camming force you do with a bolt action rifle. Really not an issue if you use factory, or properly made handloads.

What kind of scope is that on yours?

That's an old (1979ish) Japan made Tasco 1.5 x 5 "World Class". Actually much better made than todays Tasco's which have become blister pack cheap scopes. I have often thought about putting better glass on the rifle, but the Tasco is sharp and clear, always retained zero, and has never had an issue. Hate to mess with what works...

I think of the BLR as what John Browning would create if he redesigned his Winchester M-1895 rifle.

A nice lever gun, but I still prefer bolt actions.

The BLR is a beautiful rifle, I had one in 257 Roberts for a brief time, but they're so darn complicated inside.

I own one in .308, and I've never been tempted to open it up as I do my Marlin lever guns. Mine is a heavy gun, but it is pure joy to shoot.
